yd1 the inroads that have been made in Florida and other states show me that much has changed over the years with Georgia recruiting. Also believe it comes from necessity.
Georgia and recently the Metro Atlanta Area is a target for talent from schools all over the nation. Every SEC school has full time recruiters in the area.
I go along with the way we are showing backbone by entering into other states and trying hard to pull talented players to Athens. Mark Richt was responsible for many of the better football teams at FSU, not only coaching, he was hard to beat when it came to recruiting. His time spent under Bowden at FSU clearly shows that.
Maybe a good example of out of state recruiting can be shown by Nick Saban and Kirby Smart. I would ask this question of those that prefer to see "only" young men from Georgia playing in Athens. Anyone think that Saban/Smart could produce National Championships if they relied on the players from Alabama alone?
Another example on Friday night. We get Dyshon Sims to commit. Our main opponent was Alabama and their star recruiter, especially in Georgia, Kirby Smart. Appears more and more that this group of coaches at UGA are gaining a foothold in Middle and South Georgia. We were getting beat in those areas not that long ago.
We can also look over the rosters at Auburn for the past zillion years, same story as Alabama, they recruit the State of Georgia as no other, lots of time spent by the Auburn folks on the Georgia side of the Chattahoochee.
We still lose players to other SEC schools, especially SEC schools. Young players understand that we (SEC) are at the top when it comes to football. Chances of playing in the NFL rise greatly when you are playing in the SEC. Fact.
Much more could and will be said about the above. I do know this, Isaiah Wynn is heading to Athens. Another Florida football player that wants to play for Mark Richt and his coaches. As far as a better place to play football than Athens, don't have a clue.
thriller, guarantee you that "other site" will pick up on this and have a similar article, with a lot of CAPS.
