Wartdawg, assuming that you played football, I would venture to say that there were coaches that you had high praise for, and of course, there were probably others that you were not that crazy about. I say that for this reason . . . . A one or two year player often times sees things differently than a 3 and 4 year player.
As you rightly say, you don't know that much about Will Friend at this point, neither do I.
Maybe on my part it is a gut feeling, but been around the game for a few years and I think I see positive changes in Friends short stay in Athens this time. In my opinion, the toughest "skill" requirements, meaning different game plans cause many problems for an offensive line. Blocking assignments can vary big time from game to game. Wonder if AU will use the same blocking schemes against Jarvis Jones and Jordan Jenkins and Ogletree that they have used against other defenses.
If for example you have a 3/4 coach or a 4 man front coach (and more) as we will see in the AU game this Saturday, much of the blame goes to the offensive line, and in my opinion, that is total BS. Many of the quarterback sacks are the fault of the quarterback. AM has been called on the carpet more than one time for his reluctance to get rid of the damn ball. Sometimes you can take someone to water, can't always make them drink.
Quite frankly, I hope Will Friend is "all that" as Theus seems to think. Maybe Friend will be the end to our offensive line problems. Damn sure have to start somewhere.
