Agree with that. Trying not to be a "homer" and looking at both lines, believe we are better. One thing for sure, their offensive line is faced with the same problems that our offensive line is.

Normally, or sometimes teams that run the 3/4 defense against a good running team tend to give up more yardage than the 4/3. That however does not take into consideration a 3/4 team having a linebacking corps like we have, especially on the depth side. Really believe all of the effort, time spent on the practice field learning Grantham's way of playing defense will show up in Columbia.

This is not the same defense that played in Columbia two years ago, far from it. Same can be said about the offensive backfield.

Also believe that Todd Grantham remembers some quotes from SS. Hope the players remember them also. Key to this game, or one of them . . . . hold onto the ball.

One more thingy . . . . South Carolina does not have anyone that can cover Mitchell, and AM does not need that 3rd and 4th read on a fly pattern, and Mitchell can fly. Lots of talent, coach them up. :)

I feel more comfortable with our O line than some. Watching them execute against Missouri, Vandy, and UT, they seem to have figured some things out. And they are BIG BOYS - or I should say "Grown Men".

I agree that USCe has the DEs to shut down passing games, and I'm aware that Clowney has improved his run defense. HOWEVER - run the ball straight at Clowney - it does a few things. First, it takes Taylor out of the game. Next, pull a guard and pit our 300+ pounds against Clowney's 256 pounds, with his high pad level (6'6"). That makes life tough on even a great athlete. Teams that had success against David Pollack did just that - ran it straight at him, and he had a TOUGH time stopping that type of approach. It also can isolate the 'Cocks LBs with our FB. I like that a LOT. Theoretically, it puts Gurshall in their secondary. Seeya.

Last year we ran Isaiah What's-his-name against that side of the field and put up some big numbers. I like what southernlover said - dust off last year's game plan and get rid of the turnovers and ST mistakes - we win easy. For that matter, get rid of the turnovers and ST mistakes and we blew UT away. Ifs and buts, true, but it is fact.

They've got the same line as last year - we have Gurshall. I like Gurshall. A lot.

I will NOT get discouraged if we run a lot to his side and don't succeed early.

Another strategy that makes sense to me is to stress their LBs as much as possible - make them make plays - INVOLVE THE FREAKING TE! Chip Clowney and put a TE and a RB in their cover areas. Get short yardage high percentage throws, that allow AM to get rid of the ball FAST - no need for checking down through lots of routes.

I think our O-Line rises up again. I think our D shows up. Stop Lattimore - stop Carolina. HIT Shaw (I'll forgive a couple of late, VICIOUS hits) on his shoulder - thank you, Vanderbilt.

I am glad about two things that are happening in the press this week.

1. Most folks seem to be giving SC the edge at home, and are not giving us all the love we got last week, and
2. Everyone is questioning our defense, and that will keep the team on edge.

A team on edge, is a team that pays attention to details, and comes in ready to play...

I think this will be the best UGA D we see this season...

Interesting article about Tree not playing against Latimore. Will be a good game.

Come on OLine...

GO DAWGS!!!

Looking at the remaining games . . . are we down to, basically, a two game season?

Couple of things that keep running through my mind. One is what WD said about a team on edge. Got to believe our D coaches will be in players ears telling them SC is much better team ( and the players already know this) than the UT team that gashed us for 478 total yards. We must stop Latimore and make Shaw beat us. If front 4 can contain run, our DBs will blanket receivers. Their O line is not as good as UTs either. Be cautious of Shaw he is improving each game and can hurt us with running as well as passing.

Second is that our D will not be on field as much because we will not be scoring as quickly as we did against UT. SC has faster DBs than UT, but they are still the weakest part of their D. When their DBs are making tackles downfield that is a good thing. Receivers should be open most of the day. AM will have another big game (and right the wrongs of last year).

All in all it will be a hard fought game. Two pretty well matched teams. Not going to predict a score, except that we will win!

Go Dawgs!
