How would you beat South Carolina? was created by thriller
I've been really busy this fall, and STILL AM, here at work. But I have to have some fun, so I thought I'd start this thread. This is part of the fun of football for me . . . strategy.
My answer to my own question starts out simple - I'm not on the field, so I have the amazing ability to accomplish some very difficult tasks of theory. If I'm coaching this week, I would do one thing in particular on offense. Run the ball at Clowney. I've noticed over the years that when you have a stud pass rusher, you can sometimes take advantage of his desire to get around the tackle to break a run past him on the inside. Pull a guard around to take on a linebacker (like we've done VERY successfully this year), and run the ball straight at Clowney. He's 6-6, 256. I think one of my 300 pounders can get under his high pads and drive him backwards, especially if he's trying to take an outside path to AM.
On D, stop Lattimore and make Shaw beat us through the air. I know Shaw is a good D1 QB who can make you pay, but Lattimore is a better D1 RB who WILL make you pay if you don't stop him.
Your thoughts?
Edit: Oh yes . . . and hit Lattimore in his knees and hit Shaw on his shoulder - HARD.

Agree with everything in your post thriller....run AT Clowney.
Imo.....first of all keep it simple, don't out think yourselves.
1. Stop Lattimore.....period.
2. Keep doing what you have been doing on offense......keep great BALANCE. Against great D's you have to establish the run, that way the play action ACTUALLY will work for Bobo (and has been working). Don't change a thing on offense.
3. Make a freakin extra point......I'm scared to death a missed extra point is going to cost us a huge game (and possibly a trip to Atlanta).
That's simple enough for me.

Conner Shaw makes or breaks Carolina. Shut him down we win. Don't shut him down old ball sack wins another.

How do you hit a 52 yarder and a 50 yarder (among other long distance kicks) and miss the 20 yarders? Isn't the angle MORE difficult on the long kicks? Maybe he just needs to kick it out of the freaking STADIUM on every kick.
