Couple of thoughts on player improvement, and other things.

After four practices, quarterback Aaron Murray has been “awesome,” Bobo said. “He’s throwing the ball extremely accurate.”

AM has been under Bobo’s wing since arriving on campus in Athens. AM takes the summer and attends the Manning Camp and comes back to Athens getting raves from Bobo. Not only raves from Bobo, the onlookers at the camp were really impressed with AM. His height was mentioned, always is, but the end result was AM is a really good quarterback, with a terrific arm, makes all of the throws required to play pro ball.

Blair Walsh is hired on in Minnesota and the powers there list Blair as their kicker, case closed as to who is number one. It was mentioned that the problem Blair had at UGA was a timing thing. Whatever the cause, glad to see Blair back in the saddle again.

Point I am trying to make is that coaching is all that. One coach does not know all, but some are better at fine tuning than others.

UGA has made a lot of coaching and sports department changes in a relatively short time now. From all that I gather, the changes made have been very good for our football team and sports in general. Don’t have a clue as to whether there are more changes being considered, or if changes are necessary at this point.

Do have this feeling that Mike Bobo might be pulling up stakes in the near future, don’t really see Mike remaining at UGA as an assistant much longer. Have no doubts that Mike is no different than many assistants . . . Wants to run a program from the top. Richt or someone higher up moved quickly and placed Grantham in the number two position of hierarchy. If that remains the case, feel sure changes will come soon.

I believe that Mike Bobo is a good quarterback coach. AM did not learn everything he knows from the time spent in the Manning Camp. There are other quarterbacks that have come and gone that Mike Bobo helped in reaching their goals. Mike is a real good recruiter. All one has to do is check some of the names that he has been directly involved with that chose to play in Athens. Would not surprise me to see Mike leave and take a job elsewhere, maybe at a school with lesser notoriety, giving him the chance much like Mark Richt was given while still at Florida State.

Making a jump from assistant or coordinator to head coach is a huge step. Mark Richt I think has finally realized that and it can be seen with some of his recent decisions. Clock is ticking for Richt, and let’s face it, he understands that only too well. What I mean by that statement is the majority of Bulldog supporters have been patient, growling a bit, but patient. However, there comes a point when those same numbers come up most every year, numbers that basically look good on paper but do not meet the wishes of most Bulldog backers. To be considered elite, then you and I have to hear the name Georgia mentioned in the same breath as Southern Cal, Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas and now a growing list that includes names like Oklahoma State, Oregon and others.

Many on this board and others have made the statement that there really cannot be any excuses for our 2012 football team not reaching the goals that they have laid out for themselves as a team. Most of the championship talk so far has come from the defensive side of the ball. I like the talk. Talk like that leaves little room for excuses.

Maybe Mike and Mark have reached the point that the 2012 edition of the Red and Black feel the same way that the defensive guys do. Will say this, AM has put this team up on a pedestal, leaves little room for AM to make excuses either.

I don’t see a team on our schedule, regardless of where the game is played that has me believing that we cannot win. Not going into injuries, every team has those, and many teams that we will play don’t have the depth that we do.

Looking for big things from the 2012 group . . . They have said it, I accept it. Thoughts on a Monday morning.

Buc, I like your thinking, I just wish I had your faith. For me after we finished so strong in 07 and got cheated out of the NC game, started 08 as no 1, just to drop in the polls after each win. Our teams have not had the killer instinc and we played so sloppy the first few games in 08 that we went backwards. Now here come 2012, all the hype big talk ect, and for me I just can't get into it.

I fully expect us to play sloppy against Bufflo, win a squeaker at Misz, and just get by until the Tenn game, for which I feel we may lose. Then we go to USC, and things go down hill from there. I truly wish I had the insite and faith the most on here have, but my god, please prove me wrong. If we go 12-0, I will be the first to say, hey I was a non believer and I was proven wrong. But until then, I will have to go with my gut feeling the we lose to some team that we were suppose to beat .

duck, I have some of the same feelings that you have. Many of us have been around long enough to understand that this is the time of year when we hear a lot of hype. Couple of things that I see differently than a few years back is the attitude this group has.

It means a lot to me to hear Jarvis and others say that they truly believe in this team. Impossible for me to believe that Jarvis is talking just to hear himself talk. He could have pulled out after last season and made a lot of money. Jarvis is risking that dollar value to play for UGA in 2012. A serious injury and the NFL will not know his name. Speaks volumes to me.

duck, also believe that AM will be much improved in certain areas this season. A lot of the down times last season can be put in AM's lap, but sometimes I think too much negativity is thrown in his direction for reasons that he could not prevent. Lot of talk about how big our offensive line was, but I don't believe that the line last year rates in the top 10 lines of all time in UGA football.

Also like some of the comments that have been made about not letting up when we get a team down. That in my opinion has to do with coaching, not football players. Think most would agree with that comment.

duck, going to be real interesting to see offensive formations, play calls and personnel decisions. You know that I and others are really pulling for UGA to beat USC, even more so because of your situation with folks that love the chicken.

Like I said before, like the coaching changes that have been made, like the group of players as a whole that are wearing the Red and Black and really like the way this schedule is laid out.

Buc, can't argue with you on all the postive talk coming out of Athens. I just have never been a fan of talk that gets printed. For me just keep your mouth shut and show me how determined you are on the field of play. This avoids the new media from misquotes, or locker board material. I'm not saying it is not good for the players to believe in themselfs and the team, hell I think that is great and if the chemistry is there, no telling what we can do.

You'd think with all the running off at the mouth Spurrior is doing, we'd have extra incentive to whip his but in Columbia and do so in embarrising fashion. I would love to be suprized, go into Columbia, and beat his cocks by 24 points. Now look at me, I not being very realistic!!!!!

duck, really like what you posted above. Does not take a lot of chatter, just show up and play.

Don't know if you have seen this piece of film or not, if not, I find it very encouraging. Much talk about our center and his size. Andrews has got a nasty streak as has been mentioned before. After watching him blocking against our defense, especially 99 Kwame, don't think I am going to worry about center any more.

After watching 72 Gates, sold on the fact that he is going to be our left tackle, film shows just how good he can be.

71 Theus, he is all that. Starting right tackle for sure. This young man is another with that nasty attitude that I feel has been missing for far too long.

78 Dantzler, trying hard, has a ways to go. Takes some longer than others.

This offensive line might be surprising. As has been said numerous times, scrimmaging against our defense can only make this group better . . . . quick.

Appears to me that Will Friend was a very good hire.
