wlayton, I would think that it would be too hard not to at least think that something was wrong. Too many years involved in this mess that went on at Penn State. One thing that we all know now, this crap reached the top echelons of the university.

Here is hoping that Adams, McGarity and Richt have a handle on this. There is going to be a boat full of "stuff" coming out, said earlier, this is Chapter One.

Crossed fingers that Thomas is clean and he is a huge plus to UGA.

AMEN to that Buc......let's hope the book doesn't have too many more chapters to be read.

I did not know that John Thomas was relieved of his duties as strength coach at Penn State. He was however asked to leave after Joe Pa had been fired. Below is a link among others that I have been reading that gives me a bit of concern. Not throwing rocks, just a dedicated UGA person that wants our program to be the best it can be. Sometimes early questions and answers prevent what Penn State is fixing to go through.

Had not read this piece written by Chip Towers until after 5 p.m. this evening. Found it to be interesting as I do have a question about John Thomas that I think needs to be looked at closely. From the paste below we are told that UGA always background checks thoroughly. Hope this one turns out to be above board.

Obviously, sanctions of this magnitude will have far-reaching effects. It is sure to change the safeguards and checks and balances utilized at all major college sports programs in the country. UGA already does a very extensive background check on all the sports professionals it hires. That’s why there’s often a delay between the time we hear about imminent hires and when they’re actually announced.

Only minutes after the ruling was handed down, I contacted Georgia Athletic Director Greg McGarity to get his thoughts and observations on the situation. He declined comment until later this evening when he’ll address reporters at the Greater Atlanta Bulldog Club meeting at Cobb Galleria (5:30 p.m. social hour, 7 p.m. program). Same thing for head coach Mark Richt, who actually declined comment about the whole affair this past week at SEC Football Media Days.

On a related note since PSU had to vacate so many wins they fall below UGA in the total win total and UGA is now #10 all time.

EDIT:

Also.................to hell with Todd Blackledge still.

Todd Blackledge = suck.

Let's see . . . we have 85 slots available, and only 70 on board. Penn State players who want to actually achieve something for themselves have to be looking at other major programs. Say we give 4 or 5 battlefield promotions. I'd say we should come away with about 10 starters off that team.

What raiding priority do you say? I say:

1. Offensive line - I want the entire starting unit. I don't care if they are as good as what we've got or not. Large bodies = good.

2. Safeties - ours like to hit the bongs a little too hard. Maybe dilution is the solution. Bring in a couple of their bodies and give us some cushion in case of suspensions/dismissals.

3. Tailback - because you can NEVER have too many tailbacks, and our guys love that weed. Depth = ability to replace those mid-season drug testing failures.

I hear they also have a pretty fair DT. Big John and Qwame could use a breather from time to time. I love shopping - don't you? :)

Well now it comes out that John thomas was fired. Why on earth would CMR hire a coach that was fired. Why not go after a S&D coach that has proven results. You can bet that this Thomas guy knew what was going on at PS. This will do nothing but drag UGA down ever further into the gutter. I can just see it now, we recruit thugs, now we hire child molesters, or one that covers up the actual doings.

In my opinion and just me only, I think it is time for UGA to clean house, I mean it is time for every coach to be fired, with the exception of TG. I do not think CMR has a clue as to what he is doing, how to run a program and expecially how to use the talent he has on his teams. We are the laughing stock with all the descipline problems, we are always over rated by some media, we under achieve.

I'm sure I will be bashed by my fellow dawgs, but I am just sick and tired of all this BS. Not only with UGA, but will all of College ball, the world of college, has just gone to the thugs. You mark my words, before the season starts, this John Thomas thing will be another distraction for us, and if ya'll really think that any of the PS players will come to UGA, then I've got a piece of mountain property I'll sell you cheap in Jacksonville, Fl.
