Btw, my biggest concern going after PSU players would be the "motivation factor". Most all of the kids love everything about PSU.....Joe Pa, tradition, Big 10-12-whatever, etc etc.....if these kids leave and play at other schools, many, maybe not all, but many won't have the same motivation they once had when they had a desire to play for PSU.

Duck, you could be right, but I find it hard to believe that Thomas will be involved with anything concerning the horrible tragedy at PSU. He was not named in the Freeh report to my knowledge, and I believe that reports points out anyone who knew anything. Not saying it couldn't happen, but with all the investigations that have taken place to this point, I have not heard his name even mentioned once. Innocent until proven guilty.

Also, not saying that CMR isn't the main person responsible for our football program, but if I remember correctly, it was JT who wanted to bring in Thomas. Sure CMR probably had input, but betting the final decision was Mac and JT.

I don't know if we will get any players, but I am glad to see that CMR and staff are least trying to be proactive in going after some of these young men. I know they had a very solid running game last year, and I would personally like to see us go after Redd the running back. PSU always has very good ILB's. Wouldn't mind us trying to go after a few of them as well. And of course, you can never have to many OLmen in this league, and we could use some experience there. There kicker/punter is going to be a senior, and he was all Big 10 last year. Averaged 42yds per punt. Might really want to push hard here as well.

As far as recruits, I can't say I disagree with what CMR said. He is recruiting the same kids that every other school in the country is. He is as strict on discipline as any coach in this conference, and I do respect him for that.

Duck not bashing because everyone has a right to there opinion. But a couple of things. Just because a man works a place doesn't mean he knows everything about everybody he works with. I'm not defending Thomas but shouldn't we know the facts before making statements.

Now I don't understand your philosophy on fireing the whole coaching staff, I agree we need to make improvements and coach em up but all in all I think ours is better than most.

On recruiting, If we didn't recruit IC, WE, CK and the like. You would be calling for the coaches to be fired because we didn't.

Cold hard fact 18-19 yr old kids do dumb stuff I know I did and the temptations were not as great for me as them.


You can blame the media and money for the way collage ball is now.

AllDawgs5, was not aware that the Freeh report had not mentioned John Thomas, thanks for that information. Below is a clip concerning the former President of Penn State. Mentioned yesterday that this is just the beginning, chapter one, and a hard beginning at that. Much more to come. I sincerely hope that Thomas can add some things in the S&C area that benefits our football team. Time will tell. Thanks again for the information, do believe Freeh was thorough, not trying to hang anyone, just after the facts.

I can see ducks point after all Thomas was with Penn State and Paterno for 20 years. An association that long and he would have become "tainted" even if he knew nothing about what was happening, he was part of a staff and administrators who covered it up. Guilt by association, and being S and C coach he spent a lot of his time in the gym as did Sandusky, so over 20 years he must have at least heard about what was going on.

OK so innocent until proven guilty, I can't argue with that. But why do we or did we hire a coach that was fired by PS. If he wasn't going a good job for PS, what makes us think that he will be a great fit for UGA. As I said I am tired of all the drama in college ball, especially at UGA. I guess I just wish we could have spring ball, and fall practice get ready and just play football.

I guess I just expect to much or am not realistic, for me, I want our players to work there but off, keep their mounths shut and put 110% on the field and beat the hell out of every team we play. I want them to be on a mission, seek and destroy the other team by being in better shape, and playing smart ball. I hate all the talk about what how great we are ect, just show me on the field how great you are.
