Why would one school drop him and another IMMEDIATELY pick up a player who is facing two felony weapons charges? Because college football is about winning, and there are plenty out there who think IC can help them win. So did UGA about two weeks ago. But he committed his crimes at UGA, and nowhere else. So, Alabama State figures "he still has a clean record here" and "we can 'rehabilitate' him". Yeah, right.
IC was recruited by Alabama too. I truly believe that this would have still happened in Tuscaloosa, but I don't think we would have heard about it. It's easy to blame a coach who isn't winning . . . well, isn't winning ENOUGH.
Football players in D1 and in the pros are NOT nice people, guys. Sure, you have your Tebows and Mannings and Staffords, but the reality is this: they are generally big, mean, hardened gangstas who couldn't care less about an education. They just want the ball - and their 9mms and their weed and their ho's and their night life.
Buc, back to your comments - what surprises me the most about that Dooley interview was how open he was with his opinion of how things have been handled by the current head coach. That was something that simply wouldn't have been done not that long ago, whether he believed it or not. You know that what Vince refused to say on the record was that the kid was a cancer. Those other 4 players (or "playas" as they say in the 'hood) included 3 freshmen and a sophomore. All were doing the same thing, but they just weren't driving the car, so they couldn't be charged. The program is better off, as Vince says, but like it or not, there are still PLENTY of that "type" on the team - on EVERY team. Otherwise every school would look (and play) like Vanderbilt.
