Isaiah Crowell

Good analysis, Buc. I was thinking the same thing about our "3-4" last year. It wasn't really even recognizable as a legit 3-4 with no real nose guard and 4 down linemen every time. Will be interesting to see our 3-4 continue to grow.

Knew that others saw what happened, just long winded and OoltewahDawg is a bit new to this forum and made a "mistake" and asked Buc a question. He will think twice before doing that again or go to the pharmacist and get something for "long winded headaches" prior to the question. :)

sadlerdawg, this comment from the link I posted earlier will stick with me for a long time. This is what the players think of Coach Grantham and his way of coaching.

In the meantime, the trend line for Grantham at Georgia is pointing up, with only two senior starters on this year’s defense.

“It can only get better,” senior cornerback Brandon Boykin said. “They’re going to continue to recruit great players and people are gonna want to come here because we’re winning. I’m excited to see what he’s gonna do.”

This is a senior that is excited to see what his college coach is going to do in the future. Don't know that I have heard that from many seniors or any seniors recently leaving UGA.

President Michael Adams, you should listen and LEARN.

Tanslation--"Too bad they didn't run Willie out of town a couple of years sooner so I could have had more time in this defense."

Afternoon All,

Time to step out on the limb... ya thinks that play call might just be a tad better now that CMB has a short breath with CTG "D" having his back?

Might just get better with beefed up running game an "O" line also ?

Not taking up for CMB just that he had WM befote CTG...who would make any OC better....

He might be CMR's mini-me... bowl game will be an opportunity.... Go Dawgs

Agree it is much easier calling plays now than say under another defensive coordinator. Field position has changed considerably with the change of coaches.

Here is where I have a small problem, our offensive line and running backs come under the recruiting and guidance of the offensive coordinator and head coach. The choices made have to stand on their own merits. All have to accept the fact that there will be or could be injuries. That is why a good system can compensate for that.

Not taking up for CMB just that he had WM befote CTG...who would make any OC better....

This again goes back to choices of the head coach. Could very well be that Bobo did not stand a chance with Martinez. I believe that. I expect that few would. Willie left UGA in a huff and landed a coaching job in Oklahoma's secondary. Probably will not be there next season. Just a guess from looking at stats.

The difference between WM and Coach Grantham cannot be measured. Coach Grantham has spent fifteen years plying his trade. WM was handed a gift. That flys in the face of producing winners. That is not coach bashing on Richt, I believe that to be FACT. I also believe that after Mac came he caught Richt's attention. That also is not ugly. Little bit like peddling, have to make your quota.

Personally, have suspected this for some time. The position of offensive coordinator was supposedly given to Bobo after he had "prepared" under Richt. Problem here is that we never get a complete statement from either Bobo or Richt. Much like what went on with Richt/Martinez.

Allow me this. With the talent that is now at "all" receiving positions, that includes tight ends, backs, as well as wide receivers, cannot believe or won't accept some of the calls that we have seen under the present system. Sometimes yankeedawg1, and you know this, we become creatures of habit. I do believe that some "bad habits" have been formed and need to be changed. Defense went from a supposed 4/3, cover two (what a joke cover 2) to a defense that has not only changed formations, changed discipline. Two years under Coach Grantham and we have two All Americans, and they are not Seniors. That speaks volumes to me.

We all hear about our team scoring X number of points a game. You and I and others know that when we play folks like LSU, Alabama and others, we don't seem to put those points up. I feel that is the missing link with our football team. Yes I understand that LSU/ALABAMA play defensive games, and also know that the media harps on that. If that was a Big Whaterver or Pac Whatever and it was a defensive battle, you would think that it was the greatest game ever. Folks in the Southeast need to understand that those folks up that way are not real crazy about us. However, I just put the toothpick between my lips, push my straw hat back and drink a big old glass of Southern Sweet Tea and say . . . . guess you folks are right. By the way, who is playing in the MNC game . . . gotta love it.

We have to understand that while a running back may be the #1 or #2 running back in the nation, ain't gonna get squat if the big'uns aren't there to provide a hole. Or, we won't stop the #1 or #2 back in the country if we don't have the big'uns on the defensive line. It is that simple.

Coach Grantham proved that this year. Told Richt what he needed to make the defense work. It seems to be working.

Friend took almost nothing (that is not a shot at the players, more about depth) and held the #1 defensive line in the country to a standstill for one half of football. That says a lot to this old fart. There were some problems, but overall for a patch work line, I was impressed. Not impressed, totally impressed with our new offensive line coach. That area to me was as outstanding as the defense not allowing points. Does it sound like the football game is played in the trenches from me, yep, because that is where games are won and lost.

It cannot be that hard for folks to see that it starts down there where the boys aren't pretty, they get nasty. Touchdown scored, media lights up and everyone in the country salutes the pretty boys. Give me great line play and everyone else can have the pretty boys. Give me that no star player running behind the big uglies and I will beat you.

Again folks, sorry for all the chatter, been in the publishing business for many years and just don't know when to stop. I retired some time back, so don't really know why I can't stop. Other than the fact that I love the University of Georgia, I am Southern to the Bone, and if you are Military or believe in the folks that have participated in the Military, we are friends. Visit a VA facility sometime in your life if you have not, you will appreciate the Stars and Stripes that much more.

Go Dawgs . . . . Spartans coming to Tampa looking for a fight. Let's start 2012 1-0. This ain't Boise State and we now have time in the system. Thanks for the questions yankeedawg1, participate more during the week Brother. :)
