Guess that I come from the school that frowns on enabling. If Richt had his hands full prior to some staff changes, then it is evident that he needed help. I don't know if Richt asked for help or the situation from the last few years concerning football dictated someone needed to step in.

Have said more than once on this forum that I am not a big believer in Adams. When those Sanford Stadium seats are not filled, especially the student section, bothers me a great deal. Apparently it bothered Adams and others, as they came out in public asking for folks to attend our games. Can't recall that happening in UGA football for many, many years.

Richt came from FSU having coached only the offense in college. Did pretty well and all of us were thrilled with Richt. Then at some point the wheels began coming off and some of us started to question the lack of results we were looking for, especially with the talent that we had every year on campus. Mostly top five and ten talent.

If we seriously look at some of Richt's appointments, we have to ask ourselves, is he really ready to handle the head coaching job. Don't have to go into the WM thing, he took care of that in 2009, not 2010.

Not sure, but I think that prior to the "Dream Team" recruiting had slipped considerably, thinking top fifteen, twenty. Would have to check.

So the dream team comes in and outside of Jenkins, most of the defensive talent was already on campus. Coach Grantham molded the existing core of players into a very good defense. Some top rated recruits we thought would be playing this year as regulars has not happened. Talking about a certain defensive end or linebacker. Coach Grantham is going to make him earn his stripes, that is coaching in my way of thinking. If the two young pups that Coach Grantham is recruiting heavily this year come to UGA, this could be an outstanding class.

Have to say this. I, speaking for myself, have not seen that kind of improvement on the offensive side of the ball. Think that we are still scoring about the same amount of points as the year before. Not sure. That is a lot of points, no doubt. Who do I give most of that credit to . . . . Coach Grantham and his defensive gang. Field position, third down stops etc. Hard for the teams we have played to work their way out of a hole when the punting game is working. Have always considered the punter to be a offensive/defensive player. Aids both sides of the ball.

If Richt can bring in the two young pups from North Carolina and they pan out, the offensive side of the ball should be close to equal to the defensive side of the ball. I have a lot of faith in Friend, think he will show marked improvement on the offensive line next season, even though we lose Glenn. These running backs will have a line to run behind.

wlayton could be wrong on this but I think I saw a big move on your part toward Richt after you attended the gathering that Richt was the main speaker in Jacksonville. I seemed to notice a change in your posts, and that is not a shot at you. I watch all of his pressers and I know that there is something there, just want to see more than one year's growth. He has a lot of talent on his side of the ball, and hopefully a couple of backs that might save AM's life.

I'll start by saying I'm not FULLY on CMR's bandwagon yet, but I'm on the island and hoping that he continues to give me reason to enjoy the vacation. That being said, maybe I'm oversimplifying here, but to me the answer is pretty clear and simple. CMR is one of the best coaches in college football, AS LONG AS HE HAS TWO KEY THINGS.

1) A fiery defensive coordinator (because like you said Buc, he's an offensive mind) who can be the yen to his yang in the demeanor department and
2) An AD who has his head on straight and knows how to give a head coach the tools to be succesful.

Think about it guys, when did Van Gorder leave UGA? 2004. When did Damon Evans come on as the AD? 2004...when did things start to go downhill? A few years later after Evans and Martinez had a chance to get their hand fully wrapped around the program.

Fast forward a few years to CTG and McGarity and where are we? Not back 100%, but definitely headed in the right direction.

I'll say it again because it bears repeating...is CMR the answer to all of the Bulldawg Nations prayers? Only time will tell. BUT history shows that when the pieces are in place around him...he's done a pretty darn good job.

Buc, actually that FCA meeting that CMR attended wasn't anything special from Mark. My feelings toward him has never changed about him, his faith, character and class. If I have gotten upset before (after Boise ST), it was strictly from a football's standpoint. You see, I like CMR because, for me, there are more important things in life that throwing around a football. I firmly believe he has a "bigger" walk on this earth in helping kids and directing their paths. With everything going on in this world (this world is in "moral decay"), I stand behind a person like Mark who realizes people's "futures" are more important than 60 minutes. That being said, I still want to win football games.......but above all, respect anyone who see's the realility of the "big picture".

why yes I do......

I know it has been beat to death but we have played a weak schedule......and we have scored some points NMSU and Coastal but we also put some points up against Auburn.......but we did not put up any points on a very very weak Kentucky or gaytor team.......and did squat against a much smaller and less talented Boise State D......

I will not pick a score per se but........

LSU wins by 10 points.........

I understand the logic, but all I will say is this is not the same team that played in the
Dome months ago. I would venture a guess that if we played Boise right now, that game may
have a different outcome. I think we sleep walked against Kentucky because it was sandwiched
between Abuurn and Tech. Everything else further back is ancient history.

Found the local newspaper article I mentioned on my earlier post with ogredawg. Again, found it interesting....that's ALL....not promoting anyone (especially Bobo)

Sorry the link didn't take so I'll post PART the article.

ATHENS, GA. — There weren’t many encouraging signs for Georgia’s offense on the night it opened the season in the Georgia Dome.

Three months later, the Bulldogs return there for the SEC championship game with arguably the most prolific offense in coach Mark Richt’s 11 seasons.

Georgia ranks in the top four in the SEC in passing offense (second), total offense (third), scoring offense (fourth) and rushing offense (fourth). Only the 2005 SEC champion Bulldogs finished the season in the top four in those categories, and this year’s team has put up better numbers than that squad.

“We usually don’t look at any national stats when you play in this league,” offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said. “You try to get up in the upper half of our league.”

Georgia is averaging 34 points and 180.6 rushing yards per game, the most ever under Richt. That offense will face an LSU team that ranks second in the nation in total and scoring defense.

Quarterback Aaron Murray has thrown 32 touchdown passes, seven more than Matthew Stafford’s previous program record.

“I thought we’ve improved every week,” Bobo said. “I thought we got better in a lot of areas and just continue to add things, add new wrinkles and expand the playbook as the guys got older and Aaron got more comfortable.”
