Oh, how I've missed ya, Field Goal U

The thing about the play calling for me is the abandonment of the run. I don't think you can
ever abandon it and have our offense work, because
it doesn't work. I don't care if you're handing it off to
a 2nd string fullback, you just can't abandon it like
we sometimes do. That being said; there was some
of that yesterday, but there was also just a fair amount
of failing to execute by the players. Hard to say what the reason is for sure, but the O was just flat. On the other
side of the ball they were not, so you can look at that
and decide for yourselves if that situation of 1 half the team being flat and the other not has anything to do
with coaching.

Did ANYONE see the replay of when he got his ankle injured? Is there ANYONE posting here who REALLY thinks that type of freak accident is something someone can just "play through"? That was UGLY. It was NOT just a bruised shin. He got that ankle smashed FLAT by a 300 + pound lineman falling on it. I'm just hopeful he's available next week.

As for CT, there is NO excuse for this. I don't care what the kid did. It doesn't appear to have been a "minor" transgression of team rules - he's out for APPARENTLY TWO games. I just keep thinking that CT must have had some "THC" for that to happen. (I'm sure he was just late for a team meeting . . . yeah, right.)

Kentucky was fired up and playing as high as a KITE for this game, and still couldn't win. We were flat and quickly got down to the dregs of our running corps, and still found a way to win. I thought we would do much better, but I'll take this win. Especially since nobody on earth was as sick over this win as Steve Spurious. AM was just not on his game at all. I had no idea where he was going to throw some of those passes. But . . .

we still won, we're 9-2, SEC East Division Champions, playing in the Dome against LSU (most likely), for a possible conference championship, and this year we beat Tennessee, Florida AND Abuurn. Anyone who thinks that because of this "losing" win and the way we played that we have no chance against LSU should apply that same logic to how so many top 10 teams lost this week. None of them should have lost. None of the teams that beat them should have won.

We have a chance. It's called DEFENSE. And it would help a lot if CT would start RUNNING on the grass instead of SMOKING it.

When IC went down (again) Bozo completely abandoned the run for the next few series and the O looked pathetic. When he decided to start running it again to set up the pass, we were moving the ball again and probably would have scored a couple more times if not for the fumbles and INT.
I think the play calling is what hurt the execution, not vice versa. They knew when he abandoned the run their job got much easier. It's like he had to get to halftime to make a new plan, but as I've said before, and is proven week after week, if he is basing his plan around IC, he needs to have a readily available back up plan.
But to your other points, ecstatic to get the win and the SEC east crown.

EXACTLY.......I'm sure the coaches WANTED to run the ball more but were pretty nervous EVERY time Harton and KM had the ball in their hands. I held my breath every time Harton ran the ball....he's just too small and when he gets hit hard, he fumbles (he had 3 I believe).

AM stunk it up because UK controlled our running game with 4-5 up front and knew we were relunctant to run it fearing fumbling. Did you see CMR blast Harton on that 4th down run to the sideline where he was hit and fumbled AGAIN?? He got after his butt. We are trying to run the ball in the SEC with a scout team RB......I'm no coaching genious but how can you game plan with that handicap??? Pretty difficult.

ogredawg, I'm actually not arguing with you about our offense......it is what it is this year with no RB's and a suspect OL at best. I'm just saying that I'm VERY proud of what this team has done this year winning the East without consistent RB's and OL play. VERY proud they found a way to get it done whether ugly, pretty or lucky.......bottom line is they won the SEC East crown and sets next year up to possibly be VERY special.

What a great "stepping stone" this year has been.......

I'm proud to be a DAWG........hey fellow islanders, please pass me some more Kool-Aid.....THANK YOU.

wish I culd see things thru your rose colored glasses......but I just can't do it.....next year will not be special it will be the same old same old offense as long as Bobo is in charge of it.....love my Dawgs but will not be a kool aid drinker thank you....only reason this offense scored a TD yesterday is the Defense set it up for them.....

ogredawg......you are from Valdosta for crying out loud. VHS won MANY championships with average offenses and GREAT defenses. That's what BAMA is doing too. I agree we need a new OC or CMR take it back over but you are expecting perfection. NO OC in college football would do much with that lineup yesterday......with Harton and KM at RB, it changes the whole landscape.
