Win over TN but are you happy?

We all would like to see a great offense that can dominate......we just don't have one. Really, how successful and aggressive can you be with that OL? I feel we are pretty limited in what we can call or do.

Can we run it right at a D and blow them off the ball?....no. Can we move the ball at times?....yes but with no consistency. Does AM have time to go through his progressions?....a big NO. Can we run outside consistently....no....either IC does get around the corner, is tackled for a loss, or a holding penalty.

The O just isn't going to be great this year.

Said that we are winning with D and lucky on offense at times.....isn't the D part of the TEAM effort along with ST's?

"Yes, I'm ecstatic Richt went for it 3 times on 4th down (one of em I probably wouldn't even have gone for!!), but then that obviously begs the question, why now, and none of the other times?"

I think it's obvious "why now, and none of the other times".

It's not in Richt's nature to be a gunslinger. Somewhere along the line we have become a play
not to lose offense. Add on top of this the fact that our O-line is a joke, and you end up
not going for it in obvious situations.

Moving to the "why now?" part... simple as well. The complaints about the Miss State game conservative
play have not just been heard on this board. They've been hearing it from all over Bulldog nation,
and they are reacting to it. It's nice to know the O coaches are listening, and maybe they even realized it themselves. I hope that's the case. Either way.. it took them a little while to realize they were a bit too conservative about 4th down and short, but I darn sure don't want to see
them over react and go too far in the other direction.

Sorry, wart, that was actually rhetorical. I knew the answer--I was just making a point about why people question inadequacies after a win.

I'm also going to defend AM just a bit. He's missed some throws.. that's for sure, BUT...

Once you get happy feet in the pocket, you can tend to lose some of your mechanics and
a bit of accuracy. You may throw that ball a split second earlier than you normally would,
and you may be a bit off balance even when you do have good protection and time.

With the way our O-line plays, and the number of times AM gets hit.. I think he has developed
a bit of HFS ( Happy Feet Syndrome ). I'm not going to say he shouldn't be faulted for some
bad throws he's made, but the jury is till out on the cause. When I see his accuracy suffering
a bit, I first ask if the lack of good protection has given him happy feet and thrown off
his mechanics a little bit.

No worries mate..

I wasn't specifically making a direct reply to one person. Just making a general response
to the general topic at hand.

Interesting quote from Richt on the offense. Looks as if Richt is trying to clear the back forty, not taking all of the blame any more. This is how it should be. Beginning to look like the same song and dance that occured prior to WM leaving with his lips sticking out. You wear the title, make the money, stand tall. A winning streak of four does not hurt, but it certainly does not make us world beaters either.

Richt obviously rethought that view this past week. “I wasn’t in the mood to go for it on fourth down last week,” he said, because he “didn’t like what we had prepared.” But in the week before playing the Vols, he said, “we did a good job of putting a plan together. I had more confidence in what the offensive staff put together, so I was more decisive with what to do because I had more faith in what we were doing and how we were going about it.”

You get the idea that maybe the head coach was a bit more involved in the offensive game planning last week.
