CPJ is in a unique situation running that option offense.
4th and a short one is almost a guarantee. 4th and 4 is
about the equivalent of 4th and one for that team.

Still agree though..might not want to be quite that gutsy
with our O-line and general scheme, but maybe CMR
could try and move towards the center of the go for it
spectrum..
..Especially in certain coughmissstategamecough situations.

Football is often compared to war. It's a battle of opposing lines of men, bolstered by air support,
trying to acquire and defend territory. The timid
general is rarely successful. The bold usually
carry the day.

They beat Vandy, Ky, and Ole Miss last year. This would be biggest victory over SEC school. I guess because of last few minutes of LSU last year.

Hey Wartdawg, I like the war analogy!

Unfortunately, this weekend I expect the following:

1. If we start with the ball, 3 and out. Short run, LOONNNGG incomplete pass, draw, punt.
2. If TN starts with it, they get a field goal.
3. Game stays close through 3, we lose because of lack of strength and conditioning - and gutless, unimaginative play calling.
4. If we can blow them out by half time, UGA wins a CLOSE game, again because of S/C and poor play calling.

Man . . . why can't we ever blow out another football team?

Just curious where the concern over our S/C is coming from? The D has made it through the whole game fine.

Our OLine has been the only issue I have seen of running out of gas. They are not subbing for the OLine hardly at all because of being so thin. The OLine is running out of gas because we ran 85 plays against OM and right around 75 plas against MSt. That is a lot of time, but not an excuse. They definitely need to be in better shape. Maybe a 7pm start time will help them. It should be a lot cooler than a 12pm start time.

The S/C has looked pretty good as a whole. The only area running out of gas is the OLine, which is obviously a huge concern in a close game.

It's coming from two main things... The Boise game when the entire team looked gassed half way
through the second quarter is one of them. Richt even felt compelled to let us know that it
was a very humid day in the air conditioned dome when asked about it.

That, and the O-line thing you mentioned, which isn't really fair at all. As noted.. it's the
lack of depth there causing the problem. I think in general people see our O-line issues and
think that with boys that big, their ineffective blocking at times even in the first half must be a strength thing. The fallacy with that line of thought is that our biggest blocking issues before
the lack of substitutions runs us down have come in pass protection. Pass protection is often
about footwork, not brute strength.

Don't know if anyone else has seen the spread for the game, but looking around this morning, and found a few.

USA Today has us as a 1.5 point Dog

ESPN odds site has us a 1.5 to 2 point favorite.

So they think this will be a close game.

The Over\Under is between 56 and 57 points depending on the site.
