What I don't get is how, with all this speed and size, you guys lost to UCF. I just looked at their roster and I'd say, yes, they are bigger than BSU, but not by much.
I suppose it's the same reason I read from SEC fans about why Alabama lost to Utah. Lack of interest, disappointment in the season, not a big enough challenge, etc.
What it says to me is that size and speed are OVER RATED. I remember reading a classic Sports Illustrated article about Larry Bird when he was still at Indiana State, and how a lot of NBA scouts thought he was too slow for the NBA game. Same lack of speed applies to Jerry Rice who ran a 4.5 or 4.6 forty.
Point is, attitude, talent, and coaching can overcome speed and size. You guys proved that in the UCF game.
I'm just hoping we have enough intangibles working for us that we can overcome what is an obvious difference in measurables. That's why they play the game on grass/turf instead of on paper/internet.
