Going back to the original two simple reasons, got a question for ya'll. Apparently Boise runs a fare share of stunts w/ their D-linemen to take advantage of their speed. Any idea how the man blocking scheme of Friend matches up?

I do know that Friend is a drive blocker, not a zone blocker guy.

Don't know what specific techniques he has devise, but I do know that IF we manage to get the initial 3 foot push on their DL, that stunting won't matter a hill of beans; they'll just be running into each other.

Also, a steady does of IC sweeps, and TE dinks should solve that. (What I WOULDN'T DO MIKE BOBO is throw 40 times from the 7 step drop; AM may get killed.

That said, I fully expect Bozo to call 40 paases from a 7 step drop:)

Amen on the 3 foot push, and I don't see how we CAN'T get that, seeing as how our line outweighs them by about 30 to 40 lbs across the board.

Imo......we had better run right at them. No fancy blocking schemes......I watched a couple of their games and there DL is very quick, so have our OL to run right at them so as to not create any gaps.

Buc......glad AM is very mobile as well.......he better be especially if we lose any more OL. Even on our starting 5, two are basically newbies.

What I don't get is how, with all this speed and size, you guys lost to UCF. I just looked at their roster and I'd say, yes, they are bigger than BSU, but not by much.

I suppose it's the same reason I read from SEC fans about why Alabama lost to Utah. Lack of interest, disappointment in the season, not a big enough challenge, etc.

What it says to me is that size and speed are OVER RATED. I remember reading a classic Sports Illustrated article about Larry Bird when he was still at Indiana State, and how a lot of NBA scouts thought he was too slow for the NBA game. Same lack of speed applies to Jerry Rice who ran a 4.5 or 4.6 forty.

Point is, attitude, talent, and coaching can overcome speed and size. You guys proved that in the UCF game.

I'm just hoping we have enough intangibles working for us that we can overcome what is an obvious difference in measurables. That's why they play the game on grass/turf instead of on paper/internet.
