Not looking good for Jarvis Jones

Great question.

I played the 3-4 defense in my younger days and sometimes on TV it may not look like a 3-4, when it reality it is. Hopefully I can clear it up a little:)

1. If you see UGA's defense with 5 linemen and 2 LBers, that is the 3-4. (Unless you see a safety in one of the 2 LBers spots, then it may be a nickel package or something). Two OLBers are on the line of scrimmage. One of those Lbers will 90% of the time be rushing the QB, so even in ther 3-4, most of the time 4 guys will be coming.

2. In the 3-4 in college, your 2 ILBers will many times be smaller and faster (which Ogletree fits that perfectly) so we will still be able to cover the middle of field.

3. The thing that will confuse BSU, is when at the snap of the ball, the QB will not know which OLBer is coming; then, when he figures that out, he still has to worry about which of the other 3 Lbers is bltizing.

BulldogShannon, excellent. Couple more things could be said, no need, very good explanation. :)

Do want to add one more point on the 3/4. If the offensive line needs two to control the NG, it really creates havoc for the offense and especially the quarterback. That is exactly what Grantham is trying to do.

Found this to be interesting. . . .

Big John makes big play

Brown was running a downfield route during 11-on-11 work in Tuesday morning’s practice in shorts and helmets when he heard players on defense screaming with joy.

He turned back and saw junior college transfer nose guard John Jenkins rumbling into the end zone.

"He picked a screen and took it the house," White said. "It was probably only 12 yards, but still it’s a touchdown. ? He jumped up there and tipped it to himself with one hand and there was nobody left and he just went to rumbling and ran into the end zone."

White said it reminded him of the Packers’ B.J. Raji last season.

The 6-3, 351-pound Jenkins is said to have good speed for a player his size.

"He can move, now," offensive guard Kolton Houston said

Now that is some good stuff to hear. We may have that NG thing figured out, finally.

Geathers and JJ......

Pretty impressive. Hard to keep one's feet on the ground. :) See where my man Ramik was mentioned. He will get after you. . . . . :)

Edit to this post. Know some have seen this, another good for UGA.
