Thanks guys. My reason for optimism is this:
UGA investigated based on the story out of Columbus. UGA was trying to determine if, in THEIR opinion, JJ is ELIGIBLE, meaning whether he could ever play college football again. If they determined that he is NOT eligible, in the opinion of their attorneys, then there would be no need to report to the SEC - they would just say "adios, amigo, and have a good life". Instead, they have remained tight lipped and sent their findings NOT to the NCAA (yet), but to the SEC. I think they must have determined that he IS eligible, based on a pre-existing long term relationship with the AAU guy, which would make the "gifts" acceptable.
UGA seems to be passing this on to the SEC for their opinion. If it flies, it'll go to the NCAA for a final opinion. Don't get me wrong - I think the NCAA will try their best to mess with us because they hate us, but I take it as a positive that UGA hasn't simply cut ties yet.
