Who Knows . . .

Who Knows . . . was created by Buc
It is that time of the year when a lot of us begin to believe the hype and some truth coming out of Athens. One thing that I have noticed is most of us on this board feel we have the talent in Athens to compete. UGA can go 6-6 or 10-2 or whatever and the difference between the two records can be deceiving.

Not only here, but all around the internet we can get a different feel for just where our UGA football team is in relation to other schools.

Coming out of this corner, I think we can play with anyone on our schedule. One thing that I don't know is where our weaknesses are going to be. Maybe we don't have a weakness, if we do where does that put us record wise.

Example . . . . Serious pass rush on defense, strong defensive line. Can that cover up for a less than stout defensive backfield or lack of talent? Can we stop the run with the likes of Lattimore with a 3/4 defense? Some of these offensive lines that we are going to face are not chopped liver, starting with Boise State.

In the opening game in Atlanta can or will our offensive line be cohesive enough to take on a veteran Boise State defensive front four? We have some big dudes on our front wall, will they be in good enough shape by fall to exploit that size?

Some on this board say that they want one primary back toting that rock. Can't disagree with that in principle, but will throw a couple of facts out to be looked at. Mr Walker had the size and strength to be the man in the early 80's. He was a tremendous player in college, he was a good player in the pros. Point I am trying to make is this . . . . kids are bigger, stronger, faster than any of us that participated in football. While I would love to see IC come in and be all that, I don't think that is the case anymore. Too many huge, fast, strong athletes on the other side to allow him to carry the ball 25/30 times a game. If I were the leader of this group, I would keep this young fellows legs fresh, fourth quarter fresh legs amount to wins. Ego's have to be put aside. I think that we have some seriously good backs at UGA and IC choosing UGA will make them better participants. Already Caleb King wants to be a part . . . . again. IC appears to be the type of back (to me) that can gain a thousand yards or score 10 or 12 touchdowns both running and receiving. He is the type of back that an offensive line will block for.

Reading many article out there, some maybe have not read this. Interesting . . . .

Buc, things that make you go...hmmmmmmmmm.

As far as the running backs are concerned, I definitely agree with keeping one fresh through the 4th quarter. However, getting into a rhythm could be just as important. I wish they would have one primary back, and use the other 2 to keep him fresh, maybe come in for a play or two then get the main guy back in. I just think some of these "stud" RB's out of high school run it practically every play in HS, then it's hard for them to stay in rhythm when they run a series then sit out 2 series as is customary in the Coach Richt/bozo scheme.

sadlerdawg, always glad to see you back. Hoping all is well.

With you on the #1.

Not going to try too hard to open a new or older can of worms. If this offense does not kick butt with the schedule we have, it will get serious again.

Too much talent in Athens for folks like SS and BState to take us to task. If those two teams along with the gators beat us this year, along with AU, this board will not be able to shut me up. Probably get the boot.

I am excited . . . . feel we have most of the coaches in place. Not sure about one or two, but willing to bite my lip, close my mouth and open my ears.

Beating the weak does not impress me. Beating BState in Atlanta, SS in Athens, AU in Athens and the gators in JAX . . . . makes me :)

Buc, I'm really hoping to see a bit more, ummmm, "creative' offensive game plan. All the talent in the world doesn't mean much if the defense knows every play you're going to run and when. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

All is well, just been busy with family things. Our "little girl" is graduating HS soon and we're going through all the college stuff. (Not UGA, but what can you do????)

Buc, have not played a down yet this season, However still think that the "O" will be better than last year. I am with youu about the key starts with the "O" line. Defense will be a fun group to watch, and I sense they will be good enough for us to win in close ball games. CTG wants the game to be won on his side of the ball, In his mind we score one TD and we win 9 out of 10 games.

Teams may think they can read our offense but the "D" is a different story. Go Dawgs

sadlerdawg, congratulations to your "little girl". Too bad that college has become so expensive. Seems that there is never enough money for many households.

Read an article recently about Bobo and the play calling. All I can say to that is there is too much talent in Athens not to improve. Hoping the offensive coaches understand that their play book needs change, as does the coaches play calling in some instances. Please don't have me screaming at you this year Offensive Coordinator Bobo. B)
