2005 - The first year of the Martinez defense. McFadded torched us. Irons at Auburn torched us. I knew White and Slayton at WVU would torch us because the defense seemed soft.
2006 - Tennessee exposed the defense more. And we lost to Vandy and Kentucky which should never happen.
2007 - A roster full of NFL talent yet losses to SC and a bad Tennessee team. The BCS win was against a vastly over rated and not ready for prime time Hawaii.
2008 - unprepared and full of themselves the Dawgs got schooled by Alabama and Florida. The Ga. Tech loss further exposed the lack of defensive fundamentals. Dwyer is still running.
2009 - self explanatory from here on out.
The 2005 Sugar Bowl was the key for me. Rodriguez had this funky spread punt formation he used two times during the game and both times he got a 5 yard procedure penalty. At the time I was thinking that was odd then they did the same thing in the 4th quarter when they had to keep the ball away and immediately I knew it was set up. Richt got out foxed.
It was all down hill from there as I paid closer attention to the defense. The best talent in the conference masked some problems, but when the top talent went to the NFL the curtain was pulled back for everyone to see.
For the record I have won every college football weekly pick em I have entered much to the consternation of my friends over at the BMW site.
Here is an old thread from 2006

I said back then:
I agree Richt is a great coach. I just prefer a more assertive style of leadership. It is a matter of preference. I do admit teaching young men to accept responsibilty and be leaders is important. I am merely expressing my opinion. Some may like it some may not. If kids get all the way to college and still need ample molding from a coach then parents have failed.
I am eternally grateful for the SEC championships and the return to winning ways. I just like to see a little passion or fire.
I would never support any school like Thug U. I actually think we should adopt stricter policies toward student behavior. No DUIs or arrests allowed at all. One strike and you are out. Know the boundaries when you come in and then live by them.
No player or coach is above criticism. Losing to Vandy because our players seem as though they were unprepared is unacceptable in anything other than the math olympics.
This really has nothing to do with someones kids going to play for coach. It has to do with criticism of decisions made. And the criticisms are fair.
This is as far back as I can find when I first started voicing concerns.
