Buc, I'm more worried than ever that Richt returning next year is not only going to doom next year, but set the program back another 3-4 years. We're going to lose more recruits, while the SC's and UT's and UK's of the world are going forward, it's going to take us that much longer to catch up.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

Dragging out the Richt tenure will be as detrimental as JoePa hanging around too long. PSU is now a mid pack team in the lowly Big Ten where once they were a national power.

sadlerdawg, spot on. The fate of Richt and UGA will be played out soon. If we don't get those special players that Richt says we need and the Bama's and others get them, doesn't leave UGA much to look forward to.

One thing for sure . . . if we can't win with 4 and 5 star athletes, how the heck is Richt going to coach up the no-names.

kentdaddy, well said.

The last few days I have been all over the internet, checking out what folks think and have to say about UGA football.

Goes something like this . . .

Defense was not ready, 3/4 set UGA back in the early stages.
Offensive line was the problem, thought to be as good as any in the country.
Running backs were mediocre, thought to be a good 1/2 punch at seasons start.
Receivers unable to get open consistently, route running not good.
Lack of internal control on athletes.
Last years recruiting below UGA standards.

There were many other opinions/excuses made for this years team. After looking all of the above over, it brought me back to a conclusion that many of us on this board and others have held for some time. We do not have a coach that leads. Every one of the reasons listed above come back to one thing . . . coaching.

How many on this board remember the TV shot in the Liberty Bowl with not much time left and UGA with a timeout, Grantham is in the middle of the players along with Richt and Grantham is chewing butts out. Richt started to say something but turned away and left Grantham with the players. This reminded me of Richt apologizing to Meyer for the end zone incident. Meyer paid Richt back the following year with a direct slap in the face.

One more thing about the offensive coaching and play calling. Many of us question whether MB should be in the position he is in. I tried to recall what changed when MB took over the play calling from Richt. For a period of time in the change over, Richt was tutoring Bobo on game planning and play calling. When Richt left to be CEO, and I take a good hard look at Bobo's beginning and present play calling, it was like the light went on. He is doing exactly what he was taught to do by none other than Richt. The offense that Richt was responsible for early on did not change once the torch was passed. Small wonder Richt wants to retain MB, Bobo is doing exactly as taught, if released or fired, it would be the same thing as firing himself, and he does not appear to want to travel down that road.
