Jonathan Jenkins pool shark:
UGA coaches Mark Richt, Rodney Garner and Todd Grantham spent Thursday in Connecticut with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College defensive lineman Johnathan Jenkins.
UGA likes John Jenkins as a nose guard for its new 3-4 defense.
Though Jenkins remains committed to Oklahoma State, he called it was "just overwhelming" to have the head coach of a SEC school fly to spend all day with him.
"It was just overwhelming in a good way," Jenkins said, "and not too many prospects can say that. ... They let me know they really feel like I am the missing piece they are looking for on defense," he said."They told me they believe I could be the small link they need and I could fill that void."
A 340-pound nose tackle who attended the same junior college that recently produced former Alabama star Terrence Cody, Jenkins is one of the most-coveted prospects on UGA's 2011 board because his is such a position of need for the Dogs' 3-4 defense.
Despite the fact he said he was a little nervous about hosting, Jenkins said the time with Richt went well. It even got a little competitive.
"We talked about a lot of things, but it turned into a little competition with us playing some pool," he said. "I beat Coach Richt the first game. Then he beat me. It was best two out of three, so we are tied up, and the championship match will be when I get to Athens on my visit. Coach Richt is a cool guy. I enjoyed my time with him."
