Who would you want for our next coach?

As regards which scheme the coach uses to accomplish that task ... I don't think he should be constrained by preconceived notions of spread, pro-set, wildcat, wishbone, etc. I think he should just run what works best with the players he has. I.E. - recruit talent on offense and system players on defense.

A major problem with our offensive (extremely offensive phewww) coaching, you note above.

Thought for a minute that sadlerdawg had made this post. Swampdog, you are right. It has been said on this site before that the coaches signed AM, and are now trying to take probably 50% of his game away. They have been in the pro-set forever and maybe (probably) football 2010 is passing them by. B)

Buc, I saw a writer for ajc.com wrote the same thing about AM and the spread after the MSU game. Day late and a dollar short, we covered it 2 weeks ago. Maybe he's just a slow reader!!!

Think maybe they poke around a bit and come up with copy. Noticed an article or two that I have read on this site that makes its way into the print and electronic media. Change a word or two here and there.

Reading different quotes from coaches, somehow they don't seem to be on the same page. Tough time to trim the ship now. My hope is that we see growth and grit in some of these young men that will be around a bit longer. Don't want UGA to die on the vine. Think that this is the lowest I have ever felt about our team.

The coaches and their "comments" just don't seem to jive with someone that is backed into a corner. Seems that I have heard somewhere that Hard Heads Make Soft Butts. . . .

Guys, I think everyone has the right to want the coaching staff to be replaced, but I am looking at it a little differently. I think the only one that needs to be replaced is Bobo. If we fire Richt, we will more than likely lose Grantham. I have not given up on CTG. I think he is really going to be a good one. The guy has a lot of grit about him. I am willing to give him a little time.

However, this is not a new offensive staff, and overall, I think they are the main problem. Scoring points can limit the play calling by an offense. We have done nothing offensively all year to help our D. The good teams do. Bama will run it down the field to give their D a break. Take their last win for instance. Second half, bama dominated the ground and the clock. You stop good offenses by not giving them a chance or having to make them feel like they have to score in a hurry to keep up. We have done neither all year. I think CBM will grown into his own, Lilly is a proven recruitor and TE coach, and Ball has done a pretty nice job over the years with WR's. Our Route Calling has been as bad as anybody in the countries, but that is Bobo. However, Searles was a great OL coach everywhere he has been except for the last couple of years. He has really struggled getting consistent play. Bobo had no previous success, and has had very little success since he has been there.

As far as the spread goes, I don't think UGA has to turn in a typical Spread team because look at AM's high school stats. The kid is a gun slinger, and a good one. Can he run? YES. Would I like to see him in the run 1st role. NO. Do I think our offense should be run in a Spread formation. YES. Twins open, with a TE on the open side, and a RB beside AM in the back field. Keep the kid in the gun. We do not run the ball well out of the I, or pro, so why not just stay in the gun, and go from there. I can remember seeing UGA run there version of the Spread with Stafford, and I remember him breaking through with some really nice runs. A couple for TD's. And that is Stafford. I don't think he is anywhere near the runner of AM.

Just like to point out that I am not disagreeing with anything anyone is posting because I believe we are all on the same page. Lot of good thoughts on this thread. At least some people that love the Dawgs are thinking.

GO DAWGS.

I agree with what everyone is saying, and I think we are all on the same page. AM is a Gun QB. Keep him there. Does the offense have to convert to a spread? I don't think you have to do that to win. Bama, USC, and other teams are having success. Do I think there players are that much better than ours? NO. They put their players in the best possible position to succeed. Whether it be under center, in the Gun, etc. I don't think Bobo knows how to do that yet, and that is something that should have been thought of before he was given the position.

AllDawgs5, so much in your post that I agree with.

You mentioned the tight end briefly, sure caught my attention. With AM in the gun, and yes, he does have wheels, OCharles would be the darling of the SEC. And, there are others at that position that are way the heck above average. Even with AJ gone, AM working out of the gun would have definitely changed some defensive formations that we were facing. My bet is that we won't see AM in the gun 30% of the time. Hard headed folks. The coaches openly said they did not like what AM did in the first game, scoring a TD just before half. Seem to think 3's are the way to go in that situation. I believe, and I mean this . . . . the coaches took a little of AM's piss and vinegar away from him. My opinion. Good kid, trying to please some that should not be in charge of this young talent.

Coach Grantham is in my opinion, the MAN, and I hope he stays. He will be awesome if the offensive coaches can open their collective eyes and turn the offense loose. Coach Grantham has to be shaking his head privately, watching the blunders being made on the other side. The problems on the defense, could or should be expected . . . to a point. He has kept his cool pretty much to this point. . . . .expect to see a different CTG the remainder of the season. While the defense might have a slip here or there, being totally out of position like we have been a few times, won't be accepted. He is fixing to bring the young folks around. I will take bets on that. Belin did not just start, Lakatos will also shine, leave that side of the ball alone.

OK. Richt, get that deer in the headlights look off of your face. Admit to yourself that Bobo does not have the skills to call an offensive game from first to fourth quarter. Show me that you still have the same skills that you had when at FSU, and your beginning at UGA. Not a hard thing to do, or as a fan, ask. Simple question . . . Can you still call a game from the beginning until the end? You are not calling the defensive plays, that is apparent watching you on the sideline. Take over the play calling. Too proud to say that you made a mistake in appointing Bobo as offensive coordinator? I say this to you, the good Book also has things to say about PRIDE. Colorado is a huge game. . . .

Go Dawgs, need this win. . . .

With all due respect, firing Bobo is not the answer. The problem is that Richt gave himself a promotion to CEO. He was a great OC who was crucial to building Bowden's legend. His halftime adjustments were the best in the NCAA and better than most NFL. Unfortunately, he is not a very good CEO. If he was a good CEO then we would not still be having these discussions from 2008.
