WOW!!

Here are my views. If Richt doesn't turn this thing around quickly and somehow produce a team that is exciting to watch, we are going to keep losing recruits. We have to look no further back than last year to see how that can happen. Not knocking the kids that decided to come to UGA, but definitely was not the recruiting class that we have grown accustomed to.

Here are my major gripes:

Bobo wishes he could find out what the solution was to not being able to put the ball in the endzone. The answer to me is a simple one. Keep doing what got you there. I have watched our O too many times run the ball down a teams throat to get into scoring range, only to all of a sudden become Texas Tech. Or vice versa, I watched Murray throw the ball well against MSU, only to get deep into MSU territory and hand the ball off on 1st and 2nd down. Then, 3 and long becomes an obvious passsing situation, which usually results in a P/A pass that teams are sitting back waiting on. He has done this time and time again. It is not just this year. If you are running all over a team, don't give them time to recover on that drive. Keep running it down there throats. Or if you are moving the ball well throwing it, keep it simple, and keep making the easy throws. Why would you even think about calling back to back runs after you have moved the ball down the field, especially with the lack of running game that we have this year. Bobo needs to be a QB coach and that should be it.

Defensively. Honestly, with the exception of what seems like every first drive, they have kept the games manageable. However, it appears to me that when they really need to man-up, they just don't have what it takes. Never would I have thought I would see the day when MSU runs the ball for 2 first downs right down our throats when we knew they were going to run it. I only see 2 players that seem to have a mean streak in them, Gamble and Houston. Those guys show a little fight. Haven't seen a jaw dropping hit all year, and usually our highlight film is full of them. I believe you are on the right path with the weight room comment Buc. I would much rather have a guy that benches 225 with a mean streak who only plays the game for contact, than a guy that benches 500 and shy's away from contact. For a Defense, football should only be known as a VIOLENT COLLISION SPORT. I don't think that is what I see from our guys.

All that said, I think the real frustrations comes from the fact that at times we see glimpses of what we could have. I am tired of hearing our coaches say, "Well if we could figure out the answer to that, our jobs would be a lot easier", or however they are saying those words. News Flash to the UGA coaching staff: YOU better figure it out quick because other teams have figured out how to do it against you.

I going to keep on cheering and watching, hoping somehow we can right the ship.

Coach Richt was hired as head coach at UGA, not for his head coaching ability, more for his ability to run the offense. He did not have the credentials to become a head football coach at an SEC school. Remember this, he had some pretty fair football players when he started his regime. Our school needed a really good offensive coordinator, and got one in Coach Richt. Also remember this, Coach Richt came within a finger click turning the job down. The reason, he was not sure he was ready for the task. That is common knowledge.

Something went wrong not too long after he and his coaches started recruiting. Was it because they did not know how to recruit, or after recruiting their players, did not have the ability or know how to coach them. The high percentages that are often reflected in CMR's first ten years are sure as heck fixing to take a beating.

Coach Richt in my opinion has had a free run for the past few years. The program certainly is not progressing, look at the stats, having a very difficult time winning in the SEC. I look at different articles from a wide source of folks and most come up with the same conclusion or close to the same. Coach Richt has lost what ever it was that VD and others thought he had. He turned the reigns over to MB, walked away from the job basically, and speaking for myself, don't like what I see, and also don't like what I see down the road.

For some reason Coach Richt has kept a smile for the cameras, but he is not doing what he was hired for. Hired to win football games, bottom line. We can be friends, but if I don't like the investments you made for me (MB, WM) then it is time for me to stop losing, have to go with another source to improve my bottom line. This is a business. Smiles and wait until next year do not work for me.

Coach Richt has said openly that he is sticking with the one big hole that needs to be repaired. Not time to put a finger in the dike, hole is too large. Leak started some time back, same after game comments do not work anymore. Coach Richt needs to take a serious look at himself, and I hope that he does. If you want to coach at UGA, step up and take care of business. Again, this is a business, that is why you make at least two million dollars each year. Fans that do not understand the game, SPEND MONEY.

Some how Coach Richt, I think that you have too much on your plate. By that I mean maybe some problems at home, which a lot of us have also. There is no doubting that you have problems on the football field, just don't let the problems get any further out of hand.

I don't like the reputation that UGA and Athens are beginning to be noted for. Fun is one thing, school and football should be fun, not the kind of thing that popped its ugly head up again while you were in Mississippi. Understand that you released the player, there have been other cases that you were more lenient with. You lived and played football in the State of Florida, you know what it means to draw a line in the sand. That time is now.

Last comment, your choice for Offensive Coordinator has not worked, will not work. You know that side of the football game, go back and correct that mistake. Friends mean a lot to all of us, but sir, you are in a multi-million dollar business. Please don't make me look for another trader.

One comment that has been made on this site is who you want for a head coach. Found interesting the comments on Gruden. When Jon Gruden took the job, he had a damn good football team. Came time for Monte Kiffin's contract to be renewed, Jon said this to Monte. "You can be head coach, just promise me that I can be the offensive coordinator". Folks that is a fact, have been on the Tampa Bay board for many years. Jon Gruden knows offensive football . . . . same applies I think at this point to Coach Richt. So what is going on CMR? Friendship is one thing, business is another.

Go Dawgs . . . Like the lead position better than looking up someones backside.

I agree totally with everything you wrote except for one thing, Buc--your continued use of the word "coach" in front of Richt's name. While I would never tell anyone what they should or shouldn't refer to people as, I personally refuse to address Richt as "coach" until he starts acting like one. But what does Richt care? Acoording to him, I'm "just" a fan who doesn't understand the game. And I won't even bring up the infamous "arena" comment.

sadlerdawg, understand that. If you pull up some old posts, you will see that I did that some time back also, WM. Now MB. Getting close on the MR.

"arena" comment makes me want to say bad words. OK . . . MR played football like a lot of us, just never ran a team after high school.

This needs to be said also . . . you did not start disliking what was going on with MR this year. Last year you pretty much pulled the rug. You get in that foxhole, you mean business.

sadlerdawg, there is going to be a lot of copy written before this year ends.

Go Dawgs! There are those that can help us . . . .

Yeah, Buc, I definitely remember you dropping the "C" from WM and MB. Win/Loss records aside, Richt's refusal to accept that WM and Bozo are inept morons, coupled with the idiotic comments (excuses) he's continued to make the last several years, throw in a bit of "staying the course", add a dash of gimmicks to try to fire up the team because he can't, = recipe for disaster. Richt can do many things related to football, but it is painfully obvious to me he is not cut out to be a head coach.

My main complaint going back to CMR's beginning tenure, was his lack of emotion that I have always believed plays a role in the team's enthusiasm that is crucial to gaining and maintaining momentum and, for lack of a better word, swagger that is needed to win in the SEC. I'm pulling my hair out while he is looking on with a blank stare.

In the 2007 Florida game, following a spanking by Tennessee, CMR acknowledged this fundamental problem and decided to try and correct it by having the team storm the field after the first touch-down. This is one of the rare moments that he showed any emotion. Then he brought out the black jerseys to keep the momentum going. It worked that season, but it was only a temporary fix. Next season CMR went back to that gimmick against Alabama, because that was all he had, because he doesn't have it in him to genuinely energize players.

I have always defended CMR, but it is becoming painfully obvious that he is lacking the elements needed to successfully coach a consist SEC team. Despite all this, I'm not ready to call for his head.

This is the defining moment in his career. It makes me physically sick looking at the rest of this schedule because I see at a minimum 3 more losses, with a maximum 5.
