I am as down on CMR and the team/program right now as anyone. However, I am trying to take some of the sting and emotion out and strictly look at facts and take them all into account. There are a few mitigating circumstances that exist that I want to point out. We lost three defensive linemen to the draft last year, all of whom in, my opinion, end up seeing a good amount of playing time in the NFL. We also lost a few in the secondary. We have a new defensive coordinator with a new defensive scheme with new players running that scheme while getting used to new coaches. The players obviously have not bought into the system or the coaches yet. The most glaring weakness obviously is the defensive line. On offense we lost an experienced qb and one of the best wr in the country. we replace those two with a freshman qb and some inexperienced wr's. On top of that we had been missing our #2 tb and starting fb. We had two extremely costly turnovers at the goal line at crucial moments of two separate games. We played two very good and experienced football teams hungry to prove themselves. Throw in a night road game with a less talented but much more hungry team with nothing to lose playing a team where apathy was beginning to set in and shi*#y things can and do happen.
If we can somehow get past the buffs I do believe that progress can and will be made. As much as bobo ticks me off he did have our offense putting up big points last year. Yes play calling at certain times drove me crazy but once again the numbers don't lie...at least not completely.
I do not believe that CMR got lucky during a down time for a few teams in the sec. He is/was a good coach. We will see which it is in a few more games.

A few more games? Seriously? Over the past 4 seasons, we've lost 2 games, 3 games, 5 games, and probably 6-7 this year if we're lucky. A good coach does not stand by and watch the program decline, especially due to lack of motivation and his own coordinator hires. I've seen enough of Richt.

True, they don't lie, but they can be skewed. Bozo only put up big points in games against cream puffs (Tenn Tech) or in shootouts with teams whose D was as bad or worse than ours. Against OK St, Tenn, LSU, UF, etc.--big points? Not so much.

Like I said sadler just the facts. I have already stated I would like to see CMR step down. My main reason is there just needs to be new blood over time to keep things fresh and young kids excited and motivated. At the same time I also believe he is/ was a good coach. Its never black or white...usually a little grey.

I'll put in my vote for "was". If he were able to accept that sometimes he makes mistakes and has to correct them, and if he were able and/or willing to accept that times change and sometimes as a coach you have to adapt to those changes, then I might say "is". But he is an anachronism now, just a punch line for the SEC schools that are getting better.
