Had the opportunity to watch the replay of UGA and South Carolina today. Don't really know why I put myself through the mind boggling experience except for the fact I am ready for some football.
I remember now why I don't refer to WM as Coach. Film did not change from the live game that I watched. WM had absolutely no clue on stopping USC. Watching our linebackers trying their dead level best to cover receivers. Not the players fault, poor coaching on the defensive side of the ball.
Our defensive line played their hearts out, but anyone that has played the game knows that in the heat and constant battles, big linemen get tired. I caught myself looking at the UGA sideline, wondering why we continued to use the same players basically throughout the game. Lots of folks dressed out, made me wonder about our depth. Maybe I should say depth of coaching(?). UGA was not the only team in the SEC that had injuries. Poor coaching on the defensive side of the ball.
We were very fortunate to get a win up there, very fortunate.
WM is listed as the Defensive Coordinator and DB coach. He has as much or more talent on that side of the ball as does any school, for the most part. We keep hearing about how well we are recruiting year after year . . . . so what is the problem . . . . poor coaching on the defensive side of the ball.
If our defensive backs continue to tackle(?) with their shoulders as I witnessed in many of our games, folks we are in trouble. Maybe the coaches might teach these young fellows how to wrap up.
Really don't need to hear things like . . . . we had a lot of injuries, with recruiting classes that we have supposedly had, there should be more than one line of talent on both sides of the ball. A team can have all of the \"talent\" rated by the \"talking heads and print media\", it however does not work that way when you put the cleats in the turf.
Personally, WM has not come close in my opinion to wearing the label of \"Defensive Coordinator\". Lots of folks wearing Red and Black have their eyes on WM this year. No more quitting on the bunch from Tech like we did last year, much like we did some time back in our game against Tennessee. If you can't coach these \"prize athletes\" up, maybe you should be checking out the unemployed sites for a different type of work. Go Dawgs!
