I dont think we are even in contention and if CWM is still there we are even further back, do we even finish .500 if stafford and moreno leave?

It will all depend upon how rapidly Stafford's successor develops. It should be a battle between Gray and Murray for the starting job.

We still have Caleb King and Richard Samuel at running back, so we shouldn't hurt too bad there.

Aside from that, we're basically the same team. Everybody on D is back and the O-line is back.

The losses of Stafford and Moreno should be offset by the fact that everyone who was injured this year will be healthy (hopefully) next year.

So, I'd say next year we'll be about the same.

We won't have Bama on the schedule, and Auburn and Tennessee should still be down because they'll be going through transitional phases next year.

We open against Oklahoma State in the first game at their new stadium, so that will be tough and they'll want revenge from the last time they came here. Given that we typically start slow and that we'll be breaking in a new QB in such a high profile SEC vs Big 12 matchup, we probably lose this one.

We DO have a bye weekend before the Florida game, but Florida will have everybody back and be the same team again next year, except even better, so that game should go about like it did this year. Expect another blowout in Jacksonville. Florida should repeat as national champions next season if Tebow comes back.

We have LSU between the hedges, but I'm not so sure that's a good thing, seeing as how we play better on the road. That one's a toss up.

Georgia Tech will be tough again, as Paul Johnson is the real deal and they want a win over us in Atlanta so their fans can tear down the goal posts.

I think we'll be 10-3 or 9-4 again.

Yep. I think Murray definitely has the shoe in for the starting job, but as with any first year, true freshman QB, there's going to be growing pains. AJ Green will become his favorite target and that has it's troubles. Many young QB's settle into the groove and throw to their #1 too many times and the defenses read this like an open book, so there could be some issues there.

We still have Caleb King and Richard Samuel at running back, so we shouldn't hurt too bad there.

I may be the only one on here who thinks that Moreno returns for his Junior year. I'll tell you why: all said & done, Moreno didn't have the year that he was expected to have. He was impressive and turned a lot of heads, yes. But I think at the beginning of the season, we were all expecting the terms \"Moreno\" and \"Heisman\" mentioned in the same sentence. I think Moreno ups his NFL worth if he comes back for another season with a healthy O-Line and can shine at full speed.

So, I'd say next year we'll be about the same.

Me too, if not worse due to the fact that we will have yet another year of Martinez playing slap & tickle with the defensive scheme while opposing offenses pick us apart.

That's because we aren't. If Tebow comes back to FL (which he most likely will because his NFL value isn't superb because NFL teams/scouts are perpetually skeptical of Florida QB's in an offensive system that clearly will not work in the NFL), I look for FL to be right there again next year (i almost lost my breakfast saying that).

I think now is a better time than ever for me to reiterate my pure & utter hatred for all things Florida Gaytors.

Personally, I'd like to see Joe Cox out there next year. He is a very talented player who is waited paitentley and earned his due. In some ways he actually similiar to DJ Schockley. Both were highly touted recruits who ended up spending most of their careers on the bench and had transfer rumors floating around them.
Remember When DJ came in as a starter the Dawgs were coming off year in which sky high pre-season expectations werent met (the 2004 team which had a very good 10-2 year but not quite the top five type season people expected)sort of like this year. And Im sure all of us remember how Shockley led us to an SEC championship that suprised all the proffesional idiots at ESPN. I know the 2005 team was very different from the 2009 team and that DJ was a different player than Cox and that DJ had been rotated in throughout his career. Still, the parallels are interesting. I'm definitley NOT predicting an SEC championship next season but Cox's parallels to DJ are something to think about

and also on CWM: I thought Martinez should have been demoted and/or fired after the 05 Auburn Game and the West Virgina Sugar Bowl. Im sure hes a good man and Richit is close to him but the Dawgs will never get permanentley back on track while he is running the defense. That unit plays with no fire, no discipline, no heart, and they are a bunch of hot dogs. What we have seen this year and throught all of the D's varouis meltdowns under Martinez is an absolute embarrasment to the pride and tradition of true JUNKYARD DAWG defense. I agree 100 percent with the posts about this moron

Joe Cox should have transfered. He could have been a starter at any SEC school except Georgia and Florida, and could have started for anybody in the ACC or Big Ten. During the QB controversy in 2006, he was the one who emerged as a leader right off. He's a far better field general than Stafford ever will be, as MS is in no way a leader.

That said, I don't see him competing for the starting job against Gray and Murray though. Sad to see that talent go to waste.
