Dudes, we can argue all we want and speculate all we want about how USC would do against different SEC teams, but the fact is you can only make valid propositions when working with things that actually happened.
USC has never shied away from playing tough OOC games (they are #2 in the ESPN ranking of tough OOC games), I believe they offered to play LSU after the 2003 season but got no answer.
USC has played 4 SEC teams recently, and has beaten ALL of them easily, in several cases blowing them out by large margins.
For example, the 2006 Arkansas team had a regular season record of 7-1 against other SEC teams, beating #22 Alabama, #3 Auburn, #15 Tennessee, and only losing by 10 points or less to FL and LSU.
This same team was completely overmatched and blown out by USC 50-14 (who also blew them out by 70-17 earlier).
Those are REAL numbers, not speculation, not daydreams, not what-ifs.
I like the hard defense of the SEC, although am somewhat repelled by baseball like scores, but until the SEC schedules tougher OOC games then people will always wonder how good the SEC teams really are.
It's too bad that ASU stumbled on the way, but I'm sure it'll be an entertaining game to watch. Here's hoping it is one!
