I'd like to say that I never said that Tebow was a bad quarterback. He is a VERY GOOD quarterback, especially for a fullback who can throw. My point was that he is overrated. You can be very good and be overrated; personally I think that has been the case for a good many quarterbacks coming out of high school. You need look no further than our own back yard...Blake Barnes, Joe Cox...even Stafford -- though a very good quarterback -- was overrated coming out of HS. Mel Kiper, Jr. said that he would be taken #1 in the NFL draft before he even took a snap as a Bulldog. Now THAT's overrated.

Very rarely is it that a quarterback -- one of the \"glamor\" positions -- is rated exactly as he is. He's either overrated -- as I believe Tebow and Stafford are -- or underrated, like your Tee Martins or your DJ Shockleys.

But I mean, come on...Tebow had a special about him called \"The Chosen One\" before he ever played a snap for the Gators. Tell me THAT's not setting your kid up for failure! Then he takes over a national championship squad and loses three games. Michael Vick and Kobe Bryant will tell you that no matter how good you are at making plays, you're no good at all if you can't make the players around you better.

Hey, I don't hate Tim Tebow. The press is overrating him, and so is Gator Nation. And, as I said, I think that Bulldog Nation is overrating Stafford (sorry if this makes me immediately unpopular). But what reason do I have to hate Tebow? After all, he's never beaten us as a starter! :laugh:

I'll save my hatred for Rex Grossman and Danny Wuerffel. Ooh, and Jesse Palmer. God, I hate that guy. What in the hell is up with his hair?

Dapolla, I agree with you on Stafford. I thought Cox should have be given the go. Why he wasn't, I don't know. I don't get to go to those meetings.

And yes it is Wlayton.

Ok, gotta throw in a quick opinion.....and remember, it's just my opinion.....Cox is a winner and was a great HS QB but he can't come close to Stafford's abilities. That being said and with Tebow in the mix....Stafford will probably end up being a much better pro than a collegiate player where I feel Tebow is better in college than he will be in the pro's.

If we want to get into comp's with MS and Cox, that will take some time.

Gator, you still didn't answer my question. What are his numbers. Of course he attempts more than Stafford. Most due. I however due not by the whole \"Tebow has to do it\" mind set. This is a team sport. Not an individual sport. You call the plays you want to see ran. We've run into this problem with Bobo ourselves. His come around. It still goes back to one thing and one thing only in my mind. Selfishness on the part of the Coach and the player. I've also stated my reason. I could care less about Tebow or Florida for that matter. WE'VE already beat them. I respect your furvor for Tebow, but this is A DAWG site. Florida is OUR arch rival. Tebow IS the offensive leader. If we hurt your feelings, watch soccer. ( that's a joke by the way )

You repeated most of what I already stated that I realize this is a Bulldog site and blah, blah, blah, blah. I also stated that his attempts are no less than \"normal\" (i.e. average).
Since you asked:

Attempts = 255
Completions = 67.8%
Yardage = 2,532
Yds. per Attempt = 9.93
TDs = 23
INTs = 5

That is good for 2nd best in the country.
Throw on top of that the he will break every rushing TD record in the SEC this year (including Walker's) and any NON-biased person regognizes his value.

Again, the argument about loosing 3 games is invalid to me (see my earlier comment regarding Herschel Walker on this year's Notre Dame team). If it weren't for Tebow, the Gators would be 3 - 7 right now.
As for him being a ball hawk, you all still cannot seem to get it that UF has zero play makers who can run the ball. It's Tebow or loose.

What I think I'm hearing from you guys is silly.
\"Yeah Tebow's numbers are high but that's because he runs all the plays himself.\"
I can say the same thing then. \"Knowshon is piling up so many yards because he's doing all the carries.\" Yeah, because UGA had injuries in the backfield. Well then, Knowshon somehow doesn't deserve his praise because???????
Who care why he's doing it, the fact is his numbers are real.
BTW, no one commented on the fact that UF has much more impressive rushing stats than UGA. How can that be when we have no decent backs? Hint, the overrated player that will lead the country this year in QB stats and at the same time break every SEC rushing TD record. And in the toughest conference.
This is just SILLY.

The argument that when Tebow runs it isn't by design is dubious at best. I personally think Tebow audibles a play change for himself at the line quite a bit given the situation. Its how the spread option works.

Meyers spread option is built around a QB that can run. It is the main philosophy of the spread option. Plus, a good deal of those rushing TDs are in the red zone. You cant tell me one of those RBs at Fla cant dive into the end zone for the easy TD.

These are Alex Smiths 2004 numbers at Utah, Meyers last year there I believe.

passing 214-314 2952 yds. 32 TD 4 INTs

rushing 135 att. 631 yds. 10 TDs

Tebow this season (so far)

passing 173-255 2532 yds. 23 TDs 5 INTs

rushing 170 att. 718 yds 19 TDs

Tebow is outpacing Alex Smith by a considerable margin in rushing statistics. Smith that year was the 2nd leading rusher in attempts that season.

Given the fact that I believe the Fla WR corp is better than what Smith had to work with in Utah there is no reason to believe that Fla is not running first and throwing when they need to. It seems to me Meyer is telling the whole country he is going to run with Tebow and everyone else can try to stop it.

Im not trying to knock on Tebow. I think Tebow is probably the best system QB in the history of college football. I just dont think his strength lies as a pure passser like Matt Ryan at BC, etc.

Also I dont believe Stafford is the next Joe Montana. There are still plenty of games to be played for these 2 QBs. Time will only tell.

Go Dawgs!!!!
