From Athens -Friday Thoughts - 13-12-19

Believe that Jake will return in 2020 averagedawg. Suits me, kid has given his all. As you and others have said, comes a time when serious change is hitting us squarely in the face. Players coming in have for the most part ran offenses that rely on a mobile quarterback, running a system overall that differs greatly from a few short years back. Arm Jake Fromm with receivers that "want" the ball and are willing to "work" for it, even our offense looks totally different. LSU did the same thing that all of the better teams we played in 2019 did, manned up and dared us to throw the ball. Jake has knowledge over and above most college quarterbacks, that knowledge does not translate to his running skill. Jake can get us a yard or a few yards, that does not enter into the defensive plans that are prepared for us by those that know we are not a threat downfield, especially this season with Cager injured and "have to say this" . . . . A hot headed kid that has not focused on "team play", seems he is into the BMOC way of doing things.

Below are the two players that will backup Jake if he remains in 2020. For this reason alone I hope that Jake remains to "school" the players that more than likely will replace him. Jake's strength . . . . cerebral, and that ain't bad.

Jake may actually be a better professional player than college player.
The college game is now more suited to a dual threat qb. The quality of the athletes in the NFL limits that threat somewhat.

Devin Willock decommits from Penn State, coming to Athens to have a chat "again" with our coaches. Josh Braun decommits from Georgia and selects the gators. What is that old football saying? Next man up! Want everyone to be happy, "right"? Fully expect young men to look closely at their "reasons" for selecting a school to play for. Another reason not to pay too much attention to youngsters playing the media look at me game. Will say this . . . . Braun wanted to play and grow under Sam Pittman's guidance. Sam departs, Braun does same. Crossed fingers for Willock choosing Georgia this time around.

I really and truly believe that Matt Luke is going to be a huge asset for us. Georgia ever decides to run the "spread" and its many variations, Coach Matt Luke is more than qualified. Who knows, soon we might tag Coach Matt as "Cool Hand Luke". Silly me.
