Go out on a limb and predict that in three years, his recruiting class will be better than 'bama's. Trick is getting himself and assistants up to speed. We saw reality this year - he is on a learning curve, and there is a big jump from being a top DC to being a top HC. I think he has what it takes to move up that curve. I've been wrong before, but hope springs eternal.
Looking forward to TCU. I think that it is one of the better matchups in the schedule, and either team will get a morale boost in beating the other. OL and DL both need to get mean for this one.
Read your post several times rockdawg. At the end of each reading . . . . came back to the same place. A really good look at the "bottom line". Believe this is what ogredawg has been saying since the changeover. Matter of fact know it is. He can change that statement.
Many of us understand that Kirby Smart is deep dyed into the Red and Black. For several years Kirby Smart was as Crimson as one individual can be. From where I sit, that is a very good thing.
Not being ugly, "trying not to be" . . . . Kirby Smart was on the Georgia Staff for a short period of time. Much like BVG, Kirby was replaced by those "close" to our head coach. Sometimes "all of us" go with our "gut feelings" when making decisions that have consequences, both good and "not so good".
Moving from today forward 12/16/2016, there is another "beautiful picture being painted". Those of us on Dawgs.com have been through that before.
Find myself thinking that the next five (5) years that Coach Smart has remaining, as Wartdawg has said many times after the first two, there could be doubt, after three, no doubt remaining. Yes, I do understand "math", that leaves two years, discounting Coach Smart's first year.
This old dawg is willing to move past Smart and Company's first season in Athens. Second season will not be willing to do the same . . . . reason . . . . take a "hard look" at our 2017 Schedule, and consider the talent level that is currently in Athens and there are probably two or three more players that will commit for the 2017 Season that are very good football players.
Again, realize I bounce around a lot, some of that I blame on previous years . . . . before Smart and Company.
Allow me this . . . . Offensive line, WOW, and I have not a doubt that Coach Pittman is "all that".
Running backs . . . . do not need to say anything other than this . . . . there will be running backs that will choose to play elsewhere, much like the #1 quarterback in the country from Cartersville did today or yesterday. That is what Alabama goes through "every year". How do they continue on that path of young men wanting to play for Nick Saban . . . . easy enough, they are always or almost always in the "hunt" for a National Championship, like this year, 2016 for example.
Takes me back to this . . . . that is what ogredawg has said on Dawgs.com. "Comes down to coaching these young pups up".
Simple as that, me thinks.
Question . . . .
Anyone on Dawgs.com believe we will sign any of the top four or five that have yet to commit to anyone?
End with this . . . . Do not want to ever go through another year "with talent" . . . . "without success". Wilson committed to UGA . . . . take the time to look closely at film of those coming in on the offensive line that "could play" for any university in the country. FACT.
