From Athens - Friday Thoughts

My introduction to UGA football was Erk on D and smash-mouth running on O. If you have a QB who is a downfield threat, and a creative Offensive Coordinator, that can still be a winning combination. Recruiting at present seems headed for that goal - not the glare of stars. Yuge O lineman class. I don't think this is a one-off year. I expect CKS to make this kind of recruiting the norm. If he can grow into a great HC, he can take advantage of that talent.

The most important level of war is the moral. Creating a winning attitude and expectation among the players is his first job. He needs a signature effort against TCU. I want to see the team come out and WANT this one.

I was one of Kirby's earliest and biggest supporters, and while I saw many boneheaded moves, I mostly gave him a pass this year, and here's why.....anybody can be the best, well, assistant anything, but for sake of argument, let's say assistant fire chief of a house. But when you pin that extra bugle on and become the chief of the house, the first several hot calls you go on, and the responsibility is on you, you're going to make some mistakes. But you have to realize and learn from your mistakes. Now, am I saying fighting fires and coaching football are comparable? Of course not, but the principle of going from assistant to head man is basically the same, whatever the job.

All that being said, next year is the tell tale year for me...I'm not saying we have to win the NC or SEC, but if I see the same type of boners that we saw this year, I'll be one saying he is in over his head....I still have great confidence that he's the man though. I think the best is coming.

At some point those that serve under a leader, fully understand when and how to fight that fire.

Nick Chubb and Sony Michel stand as evidence as to what can be done or proposed. The University of Georgia did not step forward and make a lot of comments on the "situation", nor did our Head Coach on the "possibility" that leadership had misfired. Not surprising . . . . Public Relations steps forward.

Chubb and Michel are returning, that speaks volumes to me. They can see a "change" is in the makeup in Athens, one reason for their return, me thinks.

Will post a reason to back up the way Public Relations handled the Indoor Practice Facility. Greg McGarity was big time po'd when Jeremy Pruitt refused to be "shut up", just like Chubb and Michel refused the same. Former head coach was incredibly silent . . . . until it was said the facility would be constructed.
