From Athens - Friday Thoughts

Good Day All,

With the bad weather we have had of late it appears that it will be after our bowl game before the IPF is going to be available.
The recruits who have been on campus lately have had a hands on tour seeing what a gem this will be once it comes on line.
Thank you again CJP for the much needed push.

Speaking of recruiting…. much buzz about who we may have joining our already highly ranked 2017 class in the near future.
As been noted here….. now that there are three new HC’s in the state of Florida it becomes even a bigger issue that we keep our Georgia talent in state at UGA.

IMHO….. this year’s class really is focused at filling positions of need and building quality depth.
In the past the promise of early PT was at times glossed over…. I don’t feel that will be the case with this class. Several of our recruits will find the field starting with game one.

At long last we are building an OL….. looking at recent pictures of CSP the grin is getting wider.

He knows he has few rough stones coming in but he is a skilled stone cutter and this group will be a force very quickly…..

Time will tell… but year two for our HC and staff will have one very large advantage over year one…. a season worth of game experience from the sideline and practice field coaching Georgia.

We just received word that Nick and Sony will be back for their senior year. Looks like we won’t have any early departures for the NFL. A very good thing…….

Just wondering if this past weekend that this info was not shared with some OL recruits…. Me thinks any OL would love to block NC & SM….

Might swayed a decision ….. or two…..

Sidebar…. NC said he knew he would be back after watching Tech plant their GT flag in the midfield “G” at Sanford…. Anyone beside Nick and I might question that….. he feels he needs to fix a few things before leaving Athens…. See leadership taking a big leap here….. #27….

I had no problem with the restrooms at Sanford during the Tech game this year. I didn’t hear anyone else did either.

Bill King would have surely brought it up…. Had they not been fixed…..

My opinion, one of our largest mistakes in past years has been not understanding the overall efforts that should have been made. One year ok on offense, not so good on defense. Then it turns around and that for sure will not get a team to SEC Championships or National Championships. In Tuscaloosa they call it part of the "Process".

Nick Chubb as we all know put in extraordinary effort to recover from the injury he had playing in the "sand" in Knoxville. Have to believe he will continue to work the same way going into the 2017 Season. He has some issues to settle in Knoxville as well as in Atlanta.

Believe that the player below is going to be a force at some point in 2017.

Filled with respect for Nick Chubb, Sony Michel, Davin Bellamy, and Lorenzo Carter. Yes, a great 2017 will up their stock in NFL, but I think that a lot of their motivation was from simply being the DGDs that they are. Look forward to watching them all get out next year and play as good as they are, and seeing the senior leadership quotient soar on the field and sidelines.

Cannot imagine a greater motivation for an OL to start next year than knowing that all your backs, six deep, can make any block look good. I cannot imagine any greater motivation for an OL to start next year than knowing that you will be protecting two of the best QBs to ever come to Athens. Let's get some receivers who can block, and run to revenge on UT, UF, Vandy, and tech.

Looks like our O line will be a much different animal next year. If Wilson comes, we could be looking at a line that will dominate the East and play well against the West for the next few years. This would be huge.

PS I think TL deciding to go to Clemson says a lot more good things about Jake Fromm than it does about Clemson.
