Chief, understand. Crossed the Pacific from San Diego to Yokosuka, Japan in 1959 and it was a continual nightmare a few days out. Started with a group of 7, I was on the USS Henrico, only ship to make the entire cruise. Others pulled into Pearl.
Again, thanks for your many years of service.
Here is hoping that the weather "stuff" meaning delays does not have an impact on our team.

A friend of mine was on the USS Kearsarge during the big typhoon in '59. They operated as a base for helicopters bringing in relief aid.

Wartdawg, totally familiar with the USS Kearsarge, went on board when she was moored in North Island (San Diego).
A graduate of UGA, Kenneth Kilpatrick was an officer on the ship, (legal), needed some advice and he put a smile on my face. Kenneth was my Little League Baseball Manager in Forest Park, Georgia back in the early 50's.
Small world my friend.

Small world indeed.
John Sockwell... ADR3, Machinist mate (petty officer 3rd class) was onboard from mid 59 to 61.
Had just put aboard when the ship set sail for the east.
