Go Dawgs!
From Athens- Friday Thoughts was created by yankeedawg1
Good Morning All,
One week to go before 93KGame…….. Athens has a buzz going on about the game….
Borrowed from Pounty and the AJC..
After Tuesday practice CKS talked about how he is and the staff are evaluating the players.
Competitiveness and Toughness…. The likeness of all the players height, weight and times running …. the NFL is using the T & C as way separate and grade the players.
They are also looking to see when the players develop the T & C on their own in practice….
HC want the players to have this become habit with a coach yelling at them….
HC laughed…. you can tell if it working by how hoarse my and the other coaches voices are after practice…
HC stated that we have a mix of players doing on their own and others that have to be pushed to get it done…
I posted last week how it was good to hear the word toughness being used around our team…. I like it a lot…
Pouty and the heads do much better when the report what the HC says without any comments .
Our good buddy Chipmunk stepped in it again ..boasting that he was going to whip CKS ass….and beat us Dawgs…. He stated that CKS feels the same even if he does not say it…. Well duh….. just might be a clue here Sherlock…
history will repeat and he will have another sideline meltdown before season ends…..
Masters weekend….. enjoy the beauty of ANGC and some excellent golf.. wLayton….. locked in this weekend… as many other will be also…
Growl….. what’s on the grill????
Classic City all dressed out with all kinds of beautiful blooms….
Pause and give thanks….. blessed
Have a great weekend and a safe week…
As always “Go Dawgs”

For winning the Natty give every Dawg a bone AND prime rib steak.

Toughening up. KS keeping the fire hot. Good stuff. G-Day around the corner.
The Masters at Augusta National Golf Club has my attention. Phil is my favorite (old fart club) and hometown boy Bubba has me pulling for him too.
Meanwhile back in the Classic City... Go Dawgs!

Quincy Mauger had this to say below . . . .
‘’He (Smart) is a very hands-on kind of coach,’’ he said. ‘’He’s thrown with the safeties a couple times, he works with the entire defense, special teams, you name it. He’s really shown a high level of interest in all phases of the game. Right now, he’s just helping us focus on reading our keys and trying to play faster.’’
Don't know of course how long it will take for the "entire mind set" to change in Athens, don't think it will be a long period.
Feel that Smart has picked up where Pruitt left off and has his hands all over the "entire team". Can not think of a better replacement for head coach at UGA than the one recently made.
For those that did not get to watch Erk back in the day, what I see coming from Smart is basically the same thing. Hard, driven, but also understands what "relationships" mean. Coaches that can walk off the practice field with their arms around a player that has had a rough practice day, says a lot. Many of Smart's first year players in Athens will return after leaving campus, whether football or life in general because they understood after all was said and done.
Any that played football know exactly what I am trying to say.
Have posted this video before, will do so again if I think it fits and has merit to the conversation.

It is mostly a matter of hard work, personal responsibility and utilizing talent.
Kirby understands all three.
I haven't been this excited in a very long time.

Really like to hear young men like JaCoby Stevens giving sound reasoning as to why they want to attend UGA. Also like to see top athletes from Tennessee and elsewhere entering into our recruiting efforts more and more. Impressive young man. Does this old heart good. Erk would have loved JaCoby, for sure.
Also, nice piece of work by Jeff Sentell.

Buc, Murfreesboro is one of the few places in Tn where the level of high school football is very good.
Coach Smart is like his mentor, looking forward.
