Monday Thoughts - Why Kirby Smart will be a Success: Culture

8 years 10 months ago #72165 by BulldogShannon
In light of this thread, I saw this article and it goes with what has been said about SEC hatred. Looks like the boys south of Valdosta are wanting kids to come play for them without having to gut it out every week in the tougher SEC.

Personally, I prefer the kids who WANT to compete in the best conference against the best players. Seems soft to me.

Man, I'm glad that toolbox Jimbo did not get the job in Athens.

BulldogShannon, Jimbo Fisher and crew had to come up with a plan.

Already FSU is feeling pressure from the gators.

Now the SEC East has tightened up, and the recruiting competition is going to be more brutal than playing on Saturdays.

Pruitt returns to Alabama, has a strong presence in Florida.

Bryan McClendon is very strong in Florida, now represents the Gamecocks.

Kirby Smart has been a force in Florida and South Georgia for many years.

Not sure what Gus Malzahn will accomplish, probably not much unless the money starts flowing again. Auburn as was mentioned in this thread by SouthernDawg, has problems.

SouthernDawg, think the folks in Cincinnati should look at a couple of very good players on the Bengal team that played for the Red and Black. Bengals seem to like the talent that comes from the SEC. Should have beaten the Broncos . . . . my opinion.

In light of previous comments...

The SEC IS college football.

The rest of them are playing stand up football with hankies and politeness rules. IE: Don't get your 'britches' dirty.

We play in the dirt.

For winning the Natty give every Dawg a bone AND prime rib steak.

Allow me this . . . .

Remembering back in the day when finding out that UGA would participate in a "bowl game".

Guess I say that for this . . . . too damn many bowl games, maybe.

Once upon a time a bowl game, regardless of which bowl meant a lot, to everyone. Not just the Southeastern teams, football period.

Times have changed and along with that comes many that still want to participate in a bowl game.

Most on Dawgs.com know that Buc reads every word posted here.

VD's first bowl game was the Sun Bowl. Some of us were around and will say this . . . . everyone thought the Sun Bowl was equal to the Rose Bowl. Why? Because in the 50's and 60's it was incredibly hard for a SEC team to be "recognized" as a football conference.

Fast forward my friends . . . . Have any of you really gotten excited about the trip to JAX and the bowl we will participate in? Like I said, read everything, nothing being mentioned about JAX and the bowl that we will play in.

Believe we, you and I have traveled that route before. Last season it was the Belk Bowl.

Back in the day those of us in the Navy and Marine Corps called it an escape hatch. Will not go into detail about water tight hatches.

This is for you SouthernDawg. You brought a subject to Dawgs.com that was of immense value. Not that many hits/clicks, but one of the best pieces of a sincere post that I have read on Dawgs.com.

Always looking for more, not from those that are "privy" for butts in the seats (Butts-Mehre) just straight talk about "our program".

SouthernDawg went to the heart of our program, the "leadership change". Was not the first one that suggested that, (change) but went into detail about "change".

Do I believe that the Red and Black can win the East side of the SEC in 2016 . . . . yes. Would I be surprised if we did not . . . . no.

SEC football is "a step above" for one reason . . . . hard work by coaches and players that turned college football upside down.

I really like reading "stuff" from those that "think" they know all that.

To those, I say this . . . . Seven (7) years of accomplishments in D1 football that will not be repeated by any conference, maybe ever.

Another message to the bleeding hearts . . . . a common phrase this day and time . . . . "it is what it is". One reason that you and your bleeding heart friends can do is quit eyeballing Dawgs.com and going elsewhere with your BS.

We do not bite . . . . usually.

Not trying to make a huge issue out of the following . . . .

To Kirby Smart again I say thank you.

Believe it to be a good thing for you to attend the game in JAX.

Maybe next season, 2016 Season we will make our way to a bowl that many of us would like to see the team participate in.

Congratulations to those on the 2015 football squad that will face off with Penn State. Believe this, Penn State and head coach Franklin will put everything on the line to beat UGA and come out of JAX with a victory.

Any members on this board remember the last "two games" in JAX? Thank you Mark Richt for going "home".

Being "ugly" . . . . you tell me.

Do any of the board members not appreciate the "bleeding hearts" avoiding the "truth" as presented on Dawgs. com?

Have been asked this question, privately.

Buc why do you in some threads mention Dawgs.com?

My answer is this.

Because Dawgs.com is the board that I chose to participate in/with.

Why?

Because it is totally different than other sites that I have read, looked at, try to understand from a logical point of view.

Cannot recall a time when I did not want to return to this site/board.

Yes have had my butt kicked, but living in the "free world" if you have escaped a butt kicking . . . . you do not belong here.

There is not kissing butts here, be right or . . . .

Or, sign on with the AJC and others. I said that.
