Go back and listen to sos in his resignation talk. It's more about getting the best players than anything else. That's why nick Saban had a lot of .500 years at mich state, 28-12 conf record at Lsu, and so so record with the Dolphins. He didn't get a lot smarter at bama, just for some reason started getting the hosses. I wonder why... :cheer:

I hope Kirby smart does great. His success will not hinge on understanding the need for great linemen, but getting them. Only so many five stars per year.

And, big beefy guys can definitely get better with training and coaching. More so than running backs and receivers. You are not getting much faster or getting better hands for the most part. So, I'm not saying coaching does not matter. Just saying the next few months are more important than July and August imho.

Yeah, but let's not act as if Riicht like many others lost because big ole bad Alabama got all the best players.

No one ever thought we had the most talent in CFB, and understood we might not be Alabama.

All we asked with him and all we ask of Smart is to get the team to perform up to the level of the talent we do get. You can't recruit top 10 classes almost every year and have the 22nd to 25th best results over the same time period and get smacked every time you play a top 25 team.

Plus if you don't think Saban really has a coaching edge, you are kidding yourself. Ask any other
coaches that ever worked for him and you will find out very quickly that he does make a big difference with his effort, attention to every detail, and demands from his other coaches and players to do the same.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

Amen to that.

When Devwah Whaley de-committed, I was thrilled. Thrilled for us and thrilled for him. At least the young man had enough integrity to de-commit now and not play games. A recruit needs to go where he is totally committed, totally enthusiastic, and ready to give it 101% at all times. And to be successful under a CKS regime, that's an entrance requirement. So, I wish him well and appreciate the forthright manner he dealt with Georgia. But I want our recruits to be ready on day one to be all-in to this program.

Buc,

I'm noticing the same thing with AJC - as if they are going to frame the narrative of what and who the program needs. Well I can't wait to see the first presser where Kirby tells them which way the winds blow and the time of the tides in his world. Speaking of which...

Today at the people's work, I was talking with a colleague who is a Michigan grad and he was informing me of how radically the culture of Michigan changed when Harbaugh showed up on the scene. He said that the environment had become so toxic under Rich Rodriguez and Brady Hoak that there was absolutely no confidence in either of their decisions anymore. It was to the point where the boosters were essentially sending e-mails and post-it notes telling the coaches who they think should be played. Well, apparently some booster approached Harbaugh to tell him who he needed to start in the bowl game. The next day, he called all the boosters into a private meeting (my colleague knew someone that was there, apparently), and told them this:

"I appreciate the opportunity you have given to me and the confidence you have placed in me as your head coach. That being said, I don't know what you guys thought you were doing with the previous staffs that were here or what input you had, but here's how its going to work from here forward. You don't tell me how I'm going to run this program - you pay me to do it. As far as personnel goes, you can find out just like the fans do on Saturday who I'm starting. When I want your opinion, I'll give it to you. If I don't ask, you don't volunteer. And anyone in this room that has a problem with this can stand their ***** up and get the **** out the door, right now. Are we clear? This is the first and only time we will have this conversation. Thank you." and walked out of the meeting.

I expect similar from CKS if he has to put someone in line. Not that colorful in a public setting, but that's the very same mentality he's going to bring. It'll be interesting to see how he deals with the media. I have my popcorn ready.
