Watched Auburn get their butts handed to them all day on their home field. Same team that the press says will win the SEC and play in the Final Four.

Watched Kentucky hand it to South Carolina on the Gamecocks home field.

Another item that has been talked about on this board "often". All of this 5 Star rating "stuff", much of it comes from those that have never, ever played football, not one down. Not that you had to play to understand. However, understanding that the 2 Stars and some that are not rated at all enter college and make the press folks look like exactly what they are . . . . novices.

Kentucky, I would keep my eyes on them. They are coached by someone that comes from a long list of successful coaches.

Georgia . . . . Loaded with talent. What to do with that talent . . . . not up to you and I.

Just to clarify... no I am not saying we intentionally start the worst player.

What I am saying is this:

Someone on our staff has a preconceived notion of what he wants a player at a certain position to look like, and chooses the starter based on that.

This same person isn't great at evuating talent on top of that.

He is also to stuobborn to admit his wrong, alter his preconceived notions, or alter an offensive approach to fit the best talent.

This ends up with us having a gaping hole that ends up being our excuse for again falling short.

... and gentlemen... unless some dastic mprovement or change happens quickly, that is exactly what we face this year.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

Mentioned earlier in this thread that I had more to say. So what is new? Wanted to hang back and see what you folks saw and wanted to talk about. We all love or like UGA Football, but we also like to think that we might understand more than "we" are given "credit" for.

One thing that has me concerned, defense. Much of the talk has been about the offense.

Chris Mayes came to play his Senior Year in Athens. Too bad when I think about him not being ready to play prior to his Senior Year. Think about that.

I am afraid that there are certain BMOC types that carry over from high school.

If we don't tighten up the defensive line, bet this, there will be a lot of "close games" to be played on our schedule.

Believe I am reading too much into this? Go to the AJC Sunday Edition and check out the Eason talk. While he might be all that in high school, SEC is not high school. Same folks that bring those stories to us are the same ones that also said Trenton Thompson would take over the league.

Am I beating Thompson up? Nope. Just being realistic, AJC and some others might believe their hype, but truth be told . . . . covering their paychecks. FACT.

Like the fact that this has been a clean thread.

The following article shows that the right questions are being asked outside of the press conferences. Or, the right statements are being said out of earshot of the coaches.

Not just this thread or board that questions the reality of what we see, not what is being fed to us through pressers. Vanilla pressers, I might add.

Could link to several articles that are out there to read on yesterdays game, this one is a pretty good sample.

Wartdawg, your post too me to this . . . .

As I have come to understand, Pruitt uses different personnel in different situations. Believe I have read and heard that multiple times since his arrival.

There seems to always be talk about how many young players in their first or second year get to play . . . . play in different situations.

Now I go to the offensive side of the ball and . . . .

If the kinks are not ironed out at this point, after Spring and Fall practices and now we are playing live SEC football, what?

You said this . . . .
Someone on our staff has a preconceived notion of what he wants a player at a certain position to look like, and chooses the starter based on that.

I will add this . . . . Colorado State will look exactly like Georgia, not a doubt in my mind. Colorado State did end up with Coach Will Friend, and we see the results of that with our offensive line.

Mentioned in post #58 that this is not the "only" board or site that are saying the same things. Guess it is not our eyesight, or as some like to say "piling on".

Copy and paste from the article below.

WOW just WOW on this paragraph.

I’m not the only one saying it. Mark Richt did, too, following Georgia’s boring, way-too-close-than-it-should-have-been (again) 31-14 win over Vanderbilt.

“At the level it’s at right now? Probably not, but we’ll get better,” Richt said.
