yankeedawg1, one thing is paramount for the success or failure of Hutson Mason or Faton Bauta or anyone else wanting the quarterback position. Same applies to all . . . . offensive line.
We know what McCarron did while at Alabama. In the current NFL listings at the quarterback position he does not rate as highly as some others. Thing is, his head coach understood the value of an offensive line. Does not get much clearer than that. Called team play if championships are the prize. Team play also includes the coaching staff.
Another very good example of team play was exhibited at FSU in 2013. More of those Nick Saban taught coaches. Hard for some to face facts, but look at the National Championships gathered under Saban and those that coached for him.
Read a lot of "chatter" on the internet, much of it coming from supposed UGA fans. Throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Nick Saban. 99% of them would be silent if the same was going on in Athens. Alabama folks love football, put their MONEY where their mouths are. Results speak for themselves. Something else, other than hiring a new defense has to change in my opinion for us to come close to where Alabama is.
Over the past 13 years, seems we always have one side of the team much better than the other. Both sides need to carry their water. That I believe to be a lack of understanding recruiting.
Some might not like this but, Auburn is again recruiting offensive linemen heavily. Gus Malzahn also knows what it takes to get into what is now going to be the final four. Some have said that we had better backs, ok buy that, but what about the group that allows backs to be all that. That shoe fit? Gus and Nick know.
Happy Sunday.
Edit: This move is a very big help to the running backs and the quarterback. Like Quayvon's attitude in the video. This will put smiles on Gurley and the other running backs. Also gives the offensive line a boost.
Appears more and more to me that Douglas is moving to fullback. That also has strong possibilities from that position.
Quote from Mark Richt . . . . Discussing the offensive line.
Georgia coach Mark Richt offered this up on Saturday: “I don’t know if we’ve got two full lines that can play but we’re getting closer to that around here, which is a good thing.”
