Competition ??

Had pretty much made up my mind to listen more, seems there are two or three that post here. Know that will change, probably tomorrow, 3/18/14 first day of Spring Practice. Spring Practice finishes, this board will be as cold as ice, waiting for fall practice to begin. Guess we stand in line and get fed by the cub/beat reporters. They do have passes to listen and view "some things" that we are not privy to. Do they make up our minds about what our views are of our football team?

Remember when this was a very active board, loaded with thoughts and suggestions. Seems to me that all of the names I see posted as members don't have a lot to add to Georgia Football.

Read this article and it makes me again review my thoughts about how our offensive coaches are handling the "O" side of the ball. Have always liked Gary Pinkel, after reading the article below, like him even more.

www.columbiatribune.com/sports/mu_footba...08-10604b9f6eda.html

Gary Pinkel believes in competition. Had a hard first season in the SEC, but came back with a vengance. We know that, watched what happened in Athens in 2013. Remember . . . . AM is gone.

Appears to me that Pruitt is going to do the same thing that Gary Pinkel is going to do with the Missouri Tigers . . . . open up the competition. Pinkel speaks to the competition issue, not sure that I have seen that in Athens on the offensive side for . . . . ? Seems to me that we are always looking to "next year". Last National Championship when?

I truly believe that we have been "hustled" for far too long. Realize many don't want to hear that, but I want to know when I can stop saying that.

2013 Season, the University of Georgia's record was less than acceptable. What would it have been if AM had not been the leader. Are we going into the 2014 Season as we have in past . . . . with promises?

Went back and looked at some of our wins. Some of the teams we played were recognized D1 football teams, came away with this . . . . Many of our victories against some of those teams were because we had "superior talent" in Athens. Many of those games were close, but talent was the deciding factor. Recruiting in the Southeast has changed, especially in the State of Georgia. Hoping that our coaching changes overall for our team.

GP is a "no nonsense" coach imo. Says what he means and means what he says. When he suggests that positions are subject to change....the players had better strap it up and get busy if they want to get on the field.

Good article Buc, thanks.

Thanks Buc. Always did like GP's style and coaching methods. He has the ability to get his players motivated and playing way above thier talent level. Being in the SEC he now has a better recruitment base to work with...

Think it was a couple of years back wlayton. You listed 3 or 4 coaches in D1 football that you liked, (Richt was on the hot seat) Pinkel was one of those. You said it again . . . . :) You were dead on then and now, Gary Pinkel is about college football. :)

Calling it like it is . . . . 2014 we get a good look at what we have, top to bottom.

A good example of seeing coaches who get the most from the talent they have is starting this

This week always surprises in the NCCA Tourney. A great stage for under achievers

Coach'm up lose and go home. GP will have his team ready when we visit Columbia no question

Go Dawgs

Go Dawgs!

ogredawg, both of us know that football has changed, especially for old folks like us (me). Was a time when we could say looking forward to next week, has become increasingly hard for me to do that.

ogredawg, trying really hard to keep it between the "lines", but . . . .

Probably should not say this but . . . . Not sure that Damian Swann is going to start this season. I would like to say he is all that, but in my heart, do not believe that. Try hard not to single players out, but if I do that, I am staying true to what I think I see.

You said prior to last season that Reggie Carter should be in the lineup at linebacker. I buy into that, think that he has enough speed to play the "star" or whatever they want to call it. He has the speed to cover "under". Think I read somewhere that Ramik Wilson might have to sit for some plays. Don't have a problem with that, just believe that Herrera is the one that needs to sit in some situations. If I see that under Pruitt, will be handing out some high fives. Herrera cannot cover. I said that. :)
