It kind of creates a little drama going on inside the coaching staff that probably should not be there. It has the possibility to be a distraction. How it changes coaching staff dynamics is yet to be seen.
I taught my three grown sons everything I know and helped them get their footing. If that is all it is then it is harmless.

For winning the Natty give every Dawg a bone AND prime rib steak.

It means a lot more to me from a football standpoint to have someone like Chrisitan Robinson in Athens. There are many that have not had the "oppotunities" in life that some of the more privileged have had, and apparently still do.

Comes a point when we want to see something other than a repeat of the things that went on with FSU that set them back until Jimbo Fisher came in and stopped the family business.

So Jon comes in and is going to help with the quarterbacks. Bobo really needs that help, and of course that releases mark richt of another responsibility.

Head coach mentions being "energized". Guess that means the years leading up to the Pruitt hiring he was "cheating the fans". By that I mean he apparently was not energized. Great way to make the money he makes and not having his heart into his profession. Record speaks for itself.

Bet is this . . . . Nick Saban/Kirby Smart are energized every season and offseason. Also bet that Jimbo Fisher remains energized. Fisher got to where he is by understanding "how to get there". Maybe Jon should study under some other coach, maybe like Saban and Fisher. Might get a first class introduction on how to coach a D1 football program. Sometimes a different perspective allows young men and women to grow.

Pruitt is not in Athens to remain as Defensive Coordinator. Time passes quickly, not that far down the road decisions have to be made. Hope I get to cast a vote.

scooby says from a football standpoint it is a good decision. WOW.

A "quality control assistant" working with the offense?.....voluntarily?

That's about like me asking a college intern (that works free at our offices) to take on a task of making sure our clients get particular research reports weekly. Guess Jon might go get all the offensive players and coaches some Poweraid.

Still feels like a non-event to me. I'm trying not to make it bigger than it is....only time will tell. Until then I'm observing spring ball to see if there is any noticeable improvement in all 3 phases of our team.

But wlayton, would your company want you to bring your son in to get your clients their weekly research reports? And if so, and all of your clients started complaining that they weren't getting their reports on time, would you want to "fire" your son? And I'm still guessing Jon will be doing more than fetching poweraid. Like Steve pointed out, just potential drama that is unnecessary.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

Believe we can get down to what has happened here.

The Alabama gang is now situated in Athens. All have University of Alabama roots.

It is known that Saban figured out long ago how to hire but not hire. Left the rest of the coaches in the SEC scratching their heads and bitching. NCAA said no rules were broken. That left the other SEC coaches crying.

Alabama gang comes in and shows mark richt how these folks are brought into the fold without gettng penalized. Thank Pruitt, Friend and Sherrer for wising richt up on the how to do things. Of course that won't be mentioned. It will be that mark richt dude again doing smart things. Smile mark richt, move a little to your right, face forward into the light, don't want shadows in the photo. Look real good for the fans. Probably pay dividends for the family. The richt family, not those purchasing UGA football tickets and items.

Alabama gang taught the FSU/UGA football coach a lesson in D1 football. Needs to be energized, was not taught this way when he was a rising star in Tallahassee.

It's an internship. The quality control coach generally spends a lot of time breaking down film and setting it
up for the players to use. They also often set the play calling for the scout teams each week after having watched
film on the next opposing defense. I'm not all that concerned about it right now and wont be as long as it's a brief internship and then he gets a real coaching job at Podunk U in Biscayne, West Dakota. Hopefully Georgia's laws on nepotism will keep it from being more than that. I agree that I don't like the appearance here of daddy using his
job to get his son a break, but let's be honest. If this was Saban letting his son do volunteer work for 'Bama, not
many would be saying a word. If this was MR doing it after having won the SEC championship and coming off of a 13 win
season where our team shined in all 3 phases of the game, then it wouldn't be much of a big deal either.

It's not however.... it's MR and most everyone has had enough of him so almost anything he does outside of seppuku
is going to be met with derision. He should know better and realize he needs to walk on egg shells, but he's obviously been made completely comfortable.

What concerns me more is something else Buc said, that others have said regarding MR being energized. About 3 years ago MR became "re-energized" as well. So by my count that means during a significant portion of the past few years, he has been "NOT-ENERGIZED". As Buc also noted... think Saban needs to get re-energized every 3 or 4 years (meaning of course he was not energized the previous season or longer)? That my friends indicates a coach that needs external factors to have his heart into it.... just the job itself and the prospect of being a D-1 coach on a team constantly
loaded with talent isn't enough. He's got to have new blood come in (and lessen his burden some more) in order to
really get focused and excited, and all along we've known this team has a focus issue.

That my friends concerns me a lot more than his boy on the field for bring your kid to work day.

God Bless and Go Dawgs
