A Closer Look at Reality

Had to come back to my last post in this thread about Bryan McClendon.

mark richt is "energized" again with the "newbies" (coaches) coming on board. Don't have a problem with that. In fact, grantham leaving along with others, (exception Chris Wilson) makes me feel better about a mishandled defense that has been that way since Erk left. Short span, there have been good defenses, but . . . . what about that word "continuity" that richt likes to throw out there. He is not using the word "continutiy" at this point, the failures of his past hirings do not coincide with that word.

There is little doubt about the talent that has been and still is in Athens. We are told how many of the UGA football players make it in the NFL. That is true. Talent in Athens has never been a huge problem, until recently. Too much talent leaving the State of Georgia. Some have said that Atlanta and the surrounding areas are transient when it comes to high school football players. Agree with that also. Is that a reason for the players to go elsewhere?

Going to ask that question to this board again. If Atlanta and the surrounding area are filled with young men that don't have ties to the University of Georgia, is that reason enough for them to play outside of Georgia? What prevents these players from wearing the Red and Black. Why did we sign 2 of the top 10 football players in Georgia, not more? Could it have anything to do with coaching, lack of coaching, recruiting, lack of recruiting?

Simple question from me to anyone that stands up. Anyone here think that this 2014 Class of recruits would have been a success without Bryan McClendon doing the job of many? Anyone notice that McClendon was involved with the recruiting of Lorenzo Carter? What would richt's facial expression have been if Carter had chosen another university? Silly question right? The media and fans would have been all over his butt. Thanks again Bryan McClendon.

Sorry, I read everything that is posted here and elsewhere about our team. What bothers me is some of the talk about "how things get done". Work gets done by folks that are into doing their jobs. The opposite has been true for far too long in Athens. richt is excited now, what about the other years, years that he was the head coach. Mistakes can be made by all of us, but just how many mistakes are we allowed to make before being called into the front office and dismissed?

Many here don't like to hear what I just said. Understandable. We win 10 or 11 games this season, makes folks happy. How long since we last won a National Championship?

One more question. Who on this board thinks we will make the final four in 2014? Would not be close without Bryan McClendon. Fact.

Even a bit excited for progress of some sort as I am now, I do not think we make the F4.

I'm done saying overly grandiose things about UGA's probable finish until they, over the course of a couple of years, show me something is significantly different.

This year I am hoping for a defense and special teams that don't make me hide my head in shame. My head tells me a win total of 10-11 max including the bowl game. That's the ceiling for this team imho.

On the recruiting side... we've got so much talent in this state, so we moreso than a lot of other states have just about everybody vulturing in on us. Sure we should keep more regardless of that, but
we wont until we prove we are real challengers for NC's.

Look around... FSU, UF, Miami, UT, Bama', Auburn, Clemson, and LSU, can claim to have won championships more recently than we have, and those are just the teams that recruit our state almost as much as their own. Even flippin' Ga Tech can claim to have won a NC a lot more recently than us.

That's just ridiculous.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

Look like UGA has named McClendon recruiting coordinator. Lets hope the title comes with a raise. Like Buc and others have stated just think where our recruiting would be with out him.

DAWGtm, thank you. Bothers me when I see the worker bees not being rewarded for their services. Too often those at the top do not know what the world looks like beneath them. Too easy to get "fat" and "settled".

I realize that I am saying a lot of things, but it is not to bring attention to myself, too old for that. Want to see more positive happenings in Athens as compared to negative ones.

Feel real good about the things that I can gather on Pruitt and his group. Mike Bobo is a known recruiting machine. McClendon has been doing this for a while, without recognition for the excellent job he does. Man travels a lot, gives up a lot for the University of Georgia (You and I). Reason for that, McClendon is a UGA man.

With the talent we have, 2014 could change a lot of things that have been negative in Athens for far too long. Thanks again Coach Will Friend.

:)

Edit: I read many boards, many that do not apply directly to UGA football. Get a better overall view when doing that. McClendon is more than a recruiter, have been told that the players, one and all have nothing but great respect for Bryan.

One other thing, notice that we, this board, were talking about Coach Bryan McClendon way before others these past few months. Yes, there are those out there that read what is said here (one for sure copies). This board has a lot of talent, proud of most things said here. Speaking personally, don't have one enemy here. Have butted heads more than once, but not one person that has been here for any length of time that I can say I dislike.
