A Closer Look at Reality

So mcgarity has an explanation as to why UGA is hording its “funds”. A long and formal dissertation concerning UGA’s debt vs holdings.

Quite frankly it did not have to be so lengthy, almost as long as Obama’s last speech to the nation.

Athletic Director goes on to explain to us how good the “Group” has been to us by not raising ticket prices. How many on this board are holding season tickets to UGA football? Not a question that needs to be answered, but the guarantee here is that the “existing prices” of football tickets far exceed what many can or are willing to pay.

Several reasons for the decline or stationary position of the millions being held in the fund. Main reason at this point, the fund is not growing as it once did.

Remember the talk about the SEC under Slive’s guidance moving to do the deal with Disney. Now mcgarity is openly mentioning the money that will come to UGA through the M&M contract. Does anyone know how much that will be, can guarantee this, those in the “group” can come within a few pennies.

So why is it that UGA cannot keep up with Bama when it comes to operating revenue? Winning football at the highest level. That is what separates the haves from the have nots. With the current group that includes the athletic department and others, don’t see any changes of consequence.

Football is and has been forever the money maker for UGA and most SEC universities. Want to see revenues drop, put 8-5 football teams on the field. No improvements to speak of at Sanford Stadium. Raise football ticket prices, watch the empty seats start to multiply.

Ever wonder why so many high school football players cross the Chattahoochee, check out the way Alabama handles football and then take a close look at the “group” that controls the purse strings for UGA. Night and day difference. When was our last National Championship? How many football National Championships have we won? Ever take a look at the Alabama side of that coin? Something like can’t see the forest for the trees, in my opinion.

Much more could be said, won’t right now.

Part two . . . .

mcgarity and the group come up with 7 million for baseball. Raise 5 million from "others".

Don't get me wrong, like baseball, played baseball, but baseball does not put coins in the basket. The 7 million that you, I and others contributed, basically football money.

Football is the golden goose, a goose that is fast losing its golden touch.

What really scares scrooge mcgarity, television. With the new contract with Disney, should make scrooge mcgarity happy. Once Disney has their hook set, more money for UGA. Price control, don't you know.

Much as I hate to say it, grantham was right about a couple of things he said to the gathering in Louisville. Said he is with a university that has a forward thinking athletic department. That was a shot at mcgarity and the group. If you have not watched his video, it has been posted on this board. Listen for yourself.

There is more.

Edit: In case you missed the video, here it is again. Many on this board know that I watch a lot of film, have done that for a long time. Find watching a video like the one below a second or third time, gather more of what I am looking for. The ego on this egomaniac is incredibly large.

Living in Chattanooga for over 30 years I have a understanding about old vs new money

For years and years Coca Cola and it's off springs ruled both Lookout and Signal Mountains

The haves lived in those locations while the worker bees lived in the valley and the rural out laying areas

Nothing got done unless the long beards wished it to happen

In the late 80's the manufacturing base started to shrink and it happened fast ,old age and death caught up with

with the old money the next generation did not want to work they just wanted to spend and live with the beautiful people and not the hayseeds that called Chattanooga home exit stage left

Enter the next boom tourism the call of the riverfront

Built the largest fresh water aquarium in the world all the private funds and opened debt free All kinds of art and shops flocked to the shores along the city river front

This provided the seed and the push for new and modern manufacturing operations VW added it's first NA plant

then Amazon added a huge DC

Now there is a completely new group holding the coin

I share this because I feel that were IMO college sports is heading M & M talk of paying players

Have no clue how all this shakes out but it is working it's way through a cycle

Cable-Dish-Internet all replaced over the air broadcasts

It has been six years since I held and read a paper book E-readers,phones,tablets and computer

All in the name of progress, much of which I am not to sure of

Sorry for the windy answer touched a button Go Dawgs

Go Dawgs!

This board and others have been active since 2013 football season started. Between now and Spring football, check the chatter that does not go on by those that post during football season.

Anyone believe that there will be a lot of baseball talk by the media?

Basketball, in full swing, are they paying the light bills?

Gymnastics, anyone here ever attend a meet?

Same can be said for soccer, swimming and all other sports.

What we have is a group in Athens that believes all things will stay the same. As yankeedawg1 said in this thread, changes were made in Chattanooga, results happened. Chattanooga Choo Choo been there myself, many years back.

Have seen nothing from the folks that run our football program that lead me to believe we are moving forward. Lot of hoopla right now with a new defensive coaching staff. Question I ask myself, what and how did it come to this? Couple of photos above in this thread that in my way of thinking explain what has gone on and will continue to follow the same path.

Get ready for more of mediocre. Staring at us without blinking. No head coach with vision and a athletic director that served “under” the Florida Athletic Director ten years, and the reason is evident. Some lead, some follow instructions. We are lacking.
