I believe CMR is a honest man.

Also believe none of us would just "walk away" from the job. Those above him will have to make that decision.....that is WHY you sign contracts with buyout clauses....protections are in place for all involved. All parties agreed to the contract so just because CMR doesn't walk away, I certainly don't think that would imply he wasn't being an honest man.

If I've been successful for many years and have a few years that was down a bit, I sure as heck wouldn't walk away....and I consider myself honest to a fault. My mindset would be if I've been near the top levels before, I could do it again.....competitive people have that mindset.

To head off an argument, I'm NOT backing CMR to stay, I also feel change is needed, but who would walk away from a premier job, whether in sports, an attorney or any other profession??

Real easy for us "to say" but certainly not realistic imo.

In my business, I can't afford off years. An electrician wires a panel wrong, the house burns down. The plumber misses a solder joint, the house floods. The carpenters are incompetent, a strong wind blows it away. I am only as good as my last job.

True.....but you wouldn't walk away from your profession....neither would I.

Honesty is a strong character trait that is irrelevant to him walking away....nobody in America would walk away including the both of us.

Saban and staff work their butts off.
Truth.

averagedawg, cover your Truth and raise you two more.

Guess me saying this is getting old, however I continue to see Bowden traits, top to bottom.

Think there is probably a difference in growing up in Boca Raton than in the country in West Virginia.

You're making FAR too broad of a statement here, wlayton. Before I got into the profession I'm in now, I walked away from a good paying profession because it got more difficult and I didn't care for it any more. Money was still good, but I walked away. Not getting into the whole honesty thing with richt, but to make an assumption that nobody in America would walk away from a profession just because it pays well, is, well, absurd.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

Probably should have edited my post about the honesty thing.
Probably should nave said if Richt was honest to himself.
Nonetheless, the point is he has failed as head coach this year.
DC be damned, it's his team. He is the boss.
As far as the quitting thing, if I could no longer build a quality product, I would hang it up.
Or if I were too stubborn to realize that, I'm sure it would be made abundantly clear.

As much as the follow statement will probably give me nightmares . . . .

Urban Meyer took the job in Florida for one reason. He knew that Tebow was going to be a gator. That is not something that Meyer controlled, Tebow was commited from the time he picked up a football.

The result of that was Crystals.

Urban Meyer took the job in Utah for one reason. Meyer had Smith coming in and that was needed for his offense.

Meyer left the gators that he "loved" so much to take on the Ohio State job. Why Ohio State, and particularly at the time he made the move? Ohio State had a quarterback that could run his offense.

Every team that Meyer left, left them in circumstances that had his recruiting hand on, however it did show his weakness.

Urban Meyer is a calculating individual. It is not about them, it is about "him".

Why mention Urban Meyer? Well, we have had one fine quarterback along with impressive running backs recently and where has Mark Richt taken us . . . . We can talk injuries, but I believe we would be better served to understand that we are relegated to occasionally winning the East, but not finding our way to a BCS bowl, and the coveted Crystal . . . . won't happen under Mark Richt.

Soon we will get a lot of hoop-la out of Athens on signing day. Mark Richt will tell us what a great recruiting class Georgia has coming in. Here is where the rubber meets the road . . . . we ususally have top recruiting classes, loaded with running backs and quarterbacks. As has been mentioned on this board, what about the offensive and defensive lines? Not one year of recruiting the lines, that should be a continuing effort each year. Ask Saban/Smart how that works out.

Need coaches that understand where the game is played. This group does not, and that comes from the top. Richt understands quarterbacks and . . . . ?
