Good Afternoon All,

CTG is the DC and it all falls back on him when there is an issue with how the defense is playing

or in our case is not playing however who is our DB coach?

I don’t think anyone has brought up his name as having anything to do with the lack of progress in
our young secondary self included

Looking for answers not to point fingers understand there is enough fault to be shared by both coaches and players

Second question

How would a STC help when a FB whose major role is to block for others takes a play off
and throws a whiff block costing us seven points

IMO our punter’s mind is not always focused

Clemson and NT should have been a wake up call that seems to have gone unanswered

Buc once again you are spot on!

Going to be interesting to see who lines up were this coming Saturday

We have a huge bulls eye painted on our backs many looking to come after a wounded dog

My post after the Clemson I made a comment that this season was like a good mystery thriller

It still is with many pages stilled to be read and turned

AM’s new nickname for me is “Clutch”

Confusion in our D is nothing new. It's up to the coaches to explain it till there is none. If it's the scheme change it, If it's the way plays are signaled in change it. One thing for sure is it's not going to fix its self. To many times our D are trying to figure out their assignments when the ball is snapped. Could have cost us some games will do just that if it's not fixed.

yankeedawg1, being totally honest.

When I look at the way our defense played last year, warts and all, still takes me back to talent in Athens.

I watch our defense line up and it seems too often 51 Ramik Wilson is trying to get a player or players in position before the snap. In my opinion, this has been going on much too long. Many players on our team have been here long enough to play a base 3 man front. Too often I have watched Grantham moving along the sideline waving and shouting to the top of his lungs.

Takes me to this. I watch coaches on the sidelines almost as much as the play on the field. On occasion I see opposing coaches step on the field to change a defensive formation, but that does not happen near as much as it does with Todd Grantham. In my simple football mind, that is a problem that occurs much too often.

Grantham continues to do some of the same things he has been doing for three years. At some point one would think that something is wrong somewhere. Guess I am one that thought players would come around to Grantham's way of playing defense. When I see Tennessee put 31 points on the board, after being behind 17-3 at one point, I begin to wonder.

In the Tennessee game the yardage and plays that our defense gave up were not against a team like Clemson or South Carolina, this was Tennessee. North Texas, still cannot get a grip on that.

Curious if anyone noticed on the sideline close to the end of the game, Grantham approached AM, could not make up what he was saying, AM however was shaking his head in appreciation.

Lakatos, I cannot in truth speak to just how effective or ineffective his coaching methods are. I do know this, when we are giving up the amount of yardage and points that we are start to wonder if Willie left.

Said a short time back that next year I, speaking for myself, will be in Grantham's grill if this continues. Again, not a shortage of talent, seems our recent problems are in the coaches basket. Grantham has player talent, however slowly but surely he is not proving that he has a handle on college football.

This is easy for me to say . . . . hire someone with Special Team coaching talent. Understand that the coaches don't punt or kick the football, but they are just as responsible for that part of the game as any other part. If you cannot punt effectively in the SEC, you are constantly trying to climb a mountain. sadlerdawg has been on point with this (ST play) and many other points over a long period of time.

I haven't bailed out, but I have my hand on the rip cord. Quite frankly, looking at our personnel, would love to see us go back to a four man front as the base defense. I have more to say.

Edit: Just finished my post and had not read DAWGtm's post. Spot on.

yankeedawg1, I have probably supported Todd Grantham as much or more than anyone on this board. Starting to wear a little thin.

Takes me back to grade school. Mess up on a paper, teacher says to me, go back and read chapter two in the history book, take the test again. If you fail to pass the second time, gather pencils and paper and copy the entire chapter two. Amazing how well I did in the second testing. There are methods that can be employed to get ones full attention. In that case it was not the teachers fault. I am beginning to wonder how much of the confusion on the defense is the teachers fault.

Honestly, tired of hearing how well we do in the red zone. I like keeping folks out of the end zone, but looking over the scores thus far, someone is getting through.

Florida has ten times the defense that Tennessee has. Appears they have found a quarterback that can put points on the board. 30-10 over Arkansas. Florida defense gives up 10 points.

Auburn is coming, 30-22 win over Ole Miss. Auburn defense gives up 22 points.

Not a time for excuses, it is time to settle this defensive problem now. Talent is not the problem in Athens, but there apparently is a problem, based on the number of games played thus far.

Offense injured, maybe it is time for Grantham's defense to help the offense out. JMHO.

Thought I'd post once more due to I got blasted my calling out the D on the LSU game. Said something about every team scoring 28 plus points. Was all but told others would leave the board due to me. Well I guess its OK for some to question TG now that we continue to go no where. I will not post again, but just thought it interesting that the man one that blasted me is now talking about the same things I said.
