There is never a good thing to say when young men get hurt. Especially when the injury is not just serious, it has lasting effects throughout life. Both physically and mentally.
I know that sometimes I harp too much to suit some football finatics. Speaking about education, not often do I pass up the opportunity to say sports are great, however get that degree.
First off life in the NFL is usually short, that is when comparing numbers that go to the league and time spent while in the league. Education is a wonderful thing, lasts a lot longer than x number of years playing football.
Well known fact that players are faster, stronger and that starts at a very young age, well before high school. The weight room means a lot, but it means a lot less than putting ones nose in the books. The 1% that don't like to hear that, those that do go to the NFL soon we see their names on the Bankruptcy Journals.
One of the first questions that I heard a reporter ask Mark Richt was the availability of Gurley for next week. They will tell you that they are just doing their jobs. Reporting is like playing football, 99% never make it in journalism, the 1%, well we still get good and bad. Check out some of the mullet wrappers that are still available, and soon to close and send more to look for work. Fact is that few in the School of Journalism end up in the football business. That degree can and will take graduates to true professional work.
Sorry . . . .
I am excited about JJ Green. This young man is a player. We lost some very good players Saturday and found at least one young man that will make us proud. Couple of years back with the injuries we suffered against Tennessee, season would be over. Hearing some of that now. I don't buy into that. What little bit I know about football, this game against Tennessee is stamped on our players minds. This is the SEC and there are many good teams participating.
Have to say at least one good thing about AM. When we had to have a score to tie the game, the sideline had called for a fade route. AM looked and did not like what he saw, changed the play. Results, very good. Goes to show once more, there is more to playing football than knocking someones block off. Smarts, film study, offseason work produced a win against Tennessee. Many young men that play that position would have stuck with the play called. Thanks AM. I said that.
