How bad did we lose this weekend?

Buc, my drill instructor used to "inspire" us while he was PTing the you-know-what out of us by reminding us that "Adversity tempers steel". Langley got tempered a little this weekend, as did a few others. It's good for them. And you are right, he darned near got one - I thought he had it. Next time, he will. You're right, LSU will go after him, but I'll bet he gets a little more help over the top from a safety. I had to question why nobody was out there behind him, but on the other hand I'm not the DC, so what do I know? I think LSU will have to be a little more cautious in how they do that.

Thanks, sadlerdawg. I found it on youtube on page three. Maybe they just didn't want us to be able to find it.

Quayvon Hicks, by the way = new star in the making. Gurley, Marshall, Hicks, Douglas . . . I like that backfield.

Have another running back that is much like Douglas, A.J. Turman from Orlando area that folks are going to like. Banged up, but will show the same promise as Douglas, maybe a little more "wiggle". Lots of depth, good stuff, different types of backs, causes problems for opposition.

Agree with you Buc especially on Turman. Watched tape on him and he hits the hole much like Gurley and when in the open field, he's smooth like Marshall....he's going to be a great one imo. Like what I saw in Douglas, very tough, hard nosed RB, but in a straight line. Not sure he has many moves, will have to wait and see. Very physical but feel you need some moves playing against D's in the SEC.

Does he kinda remind you of somebody that played in Athens the last 3 to 4 years?

On the first pass to Jones, he was running a corner route. It's hard to help over the top on that one as it is THE
play you run against cover 2 which is predicated on safety help over the top.

The second one, SC had 3 receivers to the left. The inside man ran in and the two outside went deep. Safety help
over the top if we had been in C2 would have had to help out on the slot guy innermost of the two outside receivers
as he was breaking free on a mismatch.

I give SC some credit on those plays, because they schemed them well to isolate Langley. Spurrier had probably been
planning those moves since the moment Brendan flipped on his verbal commitment to SC. Sometimes you just have to
credit the other team for good play and formation selection and your guys just have to make a one on one play.

Good point, and good x's and o's talk. I saw that on the corner route (the first TD), and Shaw hit that spot on a dime. I did not see where the inside receiver ran on the second one, but figured the safety had to have been covering someone. I'd hate to be a corner at any level, but especially D1!

Honestly, the main reason I pointed out Douglas was how he lowered that shoulder TWICE to pick up the yards. Those guys throwing themselves at his thighs didn't figure on him laying a lick on them from the shoulder. I just love seeing that. I can't wait to see Turman - from the sounds of it, we have big talent back there.

BTW - I have been happier than ever with Marshall. He isn't getting as much press as Gurley (it's hard to get much behind a stud like that), but he has made some good, tough runs and has shown some break away speed . . . keep it up Marshall!

Seriously... On that first run where he picked up 17, he lowered the boom on the first SC man coming up and flat ran him over. The second guy
was able to bring him down...while Brendan was moving forward and he was going backwards. Neither man expected for him to lower his shoulder
like that. That sort of laying wood was a thing of beauty.
