DAWGtm, some very good points. Definitely go along with the KH statement.

Whether we agree or not, that is the way Saban runs the program in Tuscaloosa.

Like you say, down the road, Nick Saban will be judged by his body of work, that means winning championships.

We have a good man and a good football coach in Mark Richt, same can be said for Richt . . . . down the road if he has not registered one National Championship, his name will be passed over in discussions of great college coaches. There will always be the case expressed by some that Richt could not win the big one. Some of that is now being thrown at AM.

Football is about winning, but when looking at the wins, much has to be considered, who were the opponents. This is not a slap at Richt or AM, just the way college football is.

Richt beats Alabama under Saban, which he did one time, beats Spurrier and gets the South Carolina thingy off of our back, tone of coverage will change.

sadlerdawg, don't know what it is, just have this feeling that Saban one day while still on the top will walk away. That is his personality.

Cleveland Browns came hard at Saban this year, money no object. Like ogredawg said, everyone finds that block in the road and a u-turn has to be made. (You know a lot about u-turns and road blocks) ;)

Miami Dolphins were too much for Saban's ego. That will destroy a team or leadership in a heart beat. Could repeat the often repeated thingy about IC. Remember the sideline incident with Richt. Turning and learning point in Mark Richt's life. I believe that.

You may very well be right, Buc, but I think he has a bit of an ego and being on top feeds that, so I think he'll stay until he has a shaky season or two. Just the impression I get from him, could be waaaaaaay off.

Saban is not heads and tails above everyone else regarding X''s and O's, and game day coaching.

What he has is he knows how to run a football program at the collegiate level. He is incredibly focused on
one thing, and one thing only... and he demands performance from his coaches, players, and all the way down
to the water boy.

He may not cheat (or has not been caught yet), but he knows how to push the envelope regarding rules and
doesn't care about personal ethics (broken promises to recruits, grey shirting, over-signing)

....and he's in an incredibly great situation at UA... the football program is worshiped, cash rich,
and comes with a storied history

That combination is "the perfect storm" for success at the collegiate level.

He's not going to out-coach the guys on the other side every Saturday in the SEC but he's probably going to
out-prepare them, and he's got the stable of athletes necessary so that "next man up" is never an issue.

sadlerdawg, as much as I have patted Nick Saban on the back, would like nothing more than adding him to a list of casualties that are on UGA's list. With the way young players are getting in line to make the trek to Tuscaloosa, going to take some serious recruiting and WINNING.

I do believe if our team answers the bell this season, we will see positive effects in Athens. Like you mentioned before, he is on a roll. What bothers me at this point is, I don't see any cracks in the armor presently or in the near future.

The link I am posting is the same one that I started this thread with. Wonder how many of these top rated athletes will make their way to Tuscaloosa, or Athens. Impressive list.
