Guess Vandy HAS arrived. ;)

wlayton, same thoughts in my camp. Some rumors out and about that Franklin will be leaving Nashville in the near future.

With all that went on between Franklin and Grantham, I honestly believe that is a thing of the past. Passions of one (1) night of SEC Football.

From where I sit, would love to see Franklin remain in the SEC, definitely qualified. He has been in our conference for a short time, and truly has taken a program that now stands tall and represents the SEC and everyone involved in our conference well.

With you wlayton on the level Franklin has reached . . . . it will be worth watching this young coach and the way he handles the "problems" that Richt and many others have gone through with the young folks that seem not to be focused.

You and I are UGA supporter's first, also love our conference. One of the advantages that you and some others have on this board is "looking back" and understanding that we (UGA) now have a chance to be "all that" for years to come.

Your statement is dead on true. Guess Vandy HAS arrived.

Truthfully, hope that the National Champion remains a SEC Football Team, long after I have hung my cleats up. :)

Was going to post this link (below) in the Football Recruiting Forum, think it might work here.

I believe that Mike Bobo and Mark Richt believe this young man is the next quarterback in Athens. Have read a lot about Jacob Park, looked at every piece of film that I can find, also do belong to some pay channels. We seem to be deep in the quarterback area, just never really know when that "jewel" will show up.

Takes me to this . . . . Have said a couple of times that I hope we can keep this coaching staff together, means so much. Bobo is now a "hot item". No doubt in my mind that he could leave tomorrow and not make a lateral move as did Garner. Bobo will not do that, and . . . . does not have to. He understands the quarterback position, better than most. My opinion. Also believe if we get a couple of defensive players that we are after, Grantham stays.

Many blogs and please forgive me . . . . "stupid posters" think that everything in college football is centered around a certain player or players. Those that fit the quotes above probably have not played a game of football in their lives. All one has to do is read the Atlanta Journal, lots of "stupid". I said that.

If coaching means nothing, wonder why Alabama did so well with "Bear" Bryant and now head coach Nick Saban? Players make up the team . . . . so do coaches. There were many coaches between Bryant and Saban, results on the field point to coaching. Leadership.

Did not mean to be so long, however Buc just happens to like discussing college football. More to the game than allowing those that get paid to tell us how and who we should recruit or hire on as our next coach.

So much football to talk about, too few to discuss it with. That will change when the Fall Season rolls around.

Go Dawgs, Good group of coaches assembled in Athens . . . . and the SEC as a whole. The entire nation hates us . . . . Buc Loves It!

Another little piece from the Elite 11 Camp.

More from Dilfer:

He praised recent Georgia commit Jacob Park (Goose Creek, Calif./Stratford) for his versatility and intelligence. “Immensely talented,” Dilfer said, “and he gets stuff.” But Park gets away with mistakes because of his skill level, according to Dilfer, who has encouraged Park to rely less on his athleticism.

Allow me this Mr. Trent Dilfer . . . . Watching Jacob Park high school film, no wonder he showed "athleticism", running for his life.

Some of the same things were said about AM coming out of high school. Bobo and Richt stopped most of that. AM has said he will show more "athleticism" this season. I believe he will do just that.

Anyone that watched Trent Dilfer play quarterback knows one thing . . . . he could not run a 40 in two weeks.

Typo from ESPN. Should read . . . . Goose Creek, South Carolina/Stratford.

All of us know that the "stuff" stuff is what separates the average from the blessed. Jacob Park is moving his body to Athens for one reason . . . . He plans to lead the Red and Black. Bobo will bring Jacob along at Jacob's pace, which I think might surprise many of us.

There is going to be a "Dawg Fight" for the QB position, don't have any doubts about that. Makes me a happy camper . . . . competition, no guarantees is what moves a program forward. We are beginning to catch (on and up) with other programs. Really like seeing Georgia and Alabama looking hard at the same talent. Keep it up coaches, it can only get better from year to year.

Sometimes the "positives" tend to make us overlook the "negatives". Best quarterback on the planet cannot be the "best" when he is not protected. My opinion. Need to get the talented front for Will Friend to make his mark and move our program forward. Offensive plays do not work when blocking schemes break down.

Still have my fingers crossed for O-Linemen in this class. Saban is stocking up again. Battles in the trenches decide football games . . . . remember SECCG in Atlanta? Trench warfare changed that game, not five yards. Again, my opinion.

Getting closer to the Clemson game, believe that this is one of the most important games in recent years for Georgia football. Reading the tea leaves, our players are aware. Not much has been said about our tight ends, do believe that is going to be a major factor in the opener. Rome has been silent as far as publicity, don't buy it, Rome is going to be huge.

Sorry, ventured off from everything with the tight end talk. Lots to discuss, so little time to get there.

This is a damn good football team. I said that, I believe that. Main thing is this group of players know that.

Conley, this year is going to be lights out, you know that better than Buc. :)

Buc - didn't have time for more than a "Thank you" in agreement with your post yesterday. I agree with you about Jay Rome. This year the game is going to slow down for him significantly. I go back to the Ole Miss game to see how critical the TE is in our offense. They were keen to stop the run and, at least initially, the deep throws. A few passes behind the LBs to our TEs loosened up that defense, and then the barn doors came off.

I agree, Buc - this offense, guided by a veteran QB who gained a lot of confidence against some tough competition last year - explosive. Rome should bloom this year.

With you Buc on all counts. We have had many discussions about the OL and what it means in the SEC (as well with a great DL).

While gues it technically was truth, I actually got a little tired of the media saying we were "5 yards from the NC game".....like you stated, the truth of the matter is we got whipped in the trenches badly and imo were a little "fortunate" to have that chance at the end of the game. BAMA was the better team, imo.....the reason?.....better OL, just my opinion.

I, like you, have followed UGA football since the '60's and I've never seen so much talent in Athens....and you are right in that the Clemson game is huge for our season. Hate it when people say, "it's not a SEC game, so really isn't that big of a deal". I say BALONEY, it's a huge deal if you are looking at a run for the NC. We pull out those 1st two games and we will be off and running...."old mo" can take you to the next level.

Still concerned about the secondary in the Clemson game.....AM & Company had better light them up imo.

thriller, had not thought that much about the Ole Miss game recently. Do know that they came to play and play hard nosed football. Looking and thinking about what changed that game was game management from our offensive leaders.

I say leaders (coaches) and also include AM in that group. He slips sometimes, but it is a given he can read defenses. Watched him pull the strings in Orlando, looked like someone flipped a switch and Nebraska did not know what hit them. Conley running down the length of the field was a beautiful thing. :woohoo:

Damian Swann also had a huge hand in changing that game. He will worth his weight in gold this year, do believe. :woohoo:

wlayton, know that you have been in the front with offensive line talk. Like you, don't care how the game changes over the years, new formations or whatever. One thing basically stays the same and that is of course, offensive linemen have to do their jobs at the snap of the ball. Not too much looking around, it is an instant war at the beginning of each snap.

You along with several others that I can think of that post here have been strong in their feelings of depth on the front(s).

wlayton, it is fairly easy to guage the depth of some posters and their true knowledge of the game. Not talking this board, and that is not a cop out. A lot of very knowledgable people here, as was stated by thriller a couple of days back when referring to ths site.

Two of the first four games, maybe three have quarterbacks that are not "scrubs". Clemson, South Carolina and LSU. I mention LSU because I do believe that Mettenberger will be a whole lot better this year than his prior time calling signals for the Tigers.

wlayton, takes me to this . . . . you have hit the nail on the head when bringing up our defensive backfield. This is where Swann is going to become a very special part on just how good we will be this season. Do know that you are saying without saying in the above post . . . . these young fellows need a little "SEC grooming".

Had mentioned "Shaq" in another thread, don't ask me why, just have a feeling that he is going to be a lot like that young man that played for LSU and ate our lunch in Atlanta. He had a lot of fun with the press, he however toned it down when Richt said you coming or not . . . . don't think I am too far off with that statement. Mouth closed and I am really glad that he is going to play between the hedges. Believe him to be that cover corner that wnats to line up against the enemies best. Won't be too long now. :woohoo: :woohoo:
