Last couple of years I have watched Will Friend closer than any coach on our team. Quite frankly, I believe he has worked miracles. If we look at the players Friend started with and where he has taken our offensive line . . . . Will Friend is a keeper.
Don't mean this to be ugly. Lakatos has 10 times the talent to teach in the beginning than Will Friend started with and might still lack overall.
Lots to watch very soon wlayton. Looking forward to the continued growth in our program.
Agree also if our offense puts points on the board, will help these young defensive players catch on at a quicker pace. Can't help but believe that Bobo and Grantham will turn their players loose in fall practices, another benefit for the defense. If these young defensive backs pay attention, they are facing a very smart 5th year quarterback who has really outstanding receivers. AM can be a huge "teacher" for the DB's and Safeties and he is not opposed to that. "Team Player". My opinion.

This year the game is going to slow down for him significantly. I go back to the Ole Miss game to see how critical the TE is in our offense. They were keen to stop the run and, at least initially, the deep throws. A few passes behind the LBs to our TEs loosened up that defense, and then the barn doors came off.
I agree, Buc - this offense, guided by a veteran QB who gained a lot of confidence against some tough competition last year - explosive. Rome should bloom this year.
thriller, looks as if you are on point with Jay Rome.
Maybe our kicker should have been in Athens rather than on the lake. Realize that young folks will make mistakes, (we all have and do) seems however that "most" of those on campus are "focused" on the task at hand. Clemson, real soon.
Probably many have read the article written by Seth Emerson. Really like the vibes I get from Jay Rome expressing himself. Lots of "Team" in his thoughts for the upcoming season.

It's easy for me to get down on Morgan - the kid did something STUPID. But, as you said Buc, he doesn't have a monopoly on stupid - I could sure give him a run for his money. I've spent plenty of time on Lake Hartwell in a boat myself, and there was enough alcohol laying around to power the Evinrude 115 we were driving. If I was him now, I'd be back in Athens practicing extra points. He can hit the 50 yarders - it's those "gimmes" that seem to give him the yips.
All in all, it's still been pretty quiet this year. But please, UGA football players, P-L-E-A-S-E . . . put away the alcohol, put away the weed, put away the firearms, put away the fisticuffs . . . just put away anything not class or football related . . . and focus . . . just F-O-C-U-S.

When I look at the offense, hard to find too many holes in the overall makeup. As Rome said, everyone back working through the summer months are on the same page. These guys want to play football and play it at a higher level than last season.
Say again, believe that our tight ends are going to be super valuable in the Clemson and South Carolina games. Couple of big, athletic men with size. Could be and will be a very big asset in the South Carolina game against their front. No, trust me, not looking past Clemson.
