Use The Word "Skilled" Carefully

Well, since Buc's going to call me out by name, guess I'll have to respond!!
But seriously, with one kid in the army, one in college 1,000 miles away, a job and travel, I don't get on here to post nearly as much as I'd like to. I do try to read the posts as much as I can.
Also, I haven't posted a great deal because I really don't have much new to add. I still don't think CMR is the man to lead us to the crystal, but really have no desire to argue that any more. I think his boneheaded statements like this last one make my argument for me. Yeah, I get it, we were 5 yards away, and blah, blah, blah, but several teams have almost beaten bama in their championship years, and one team even committed blasphemy last year and did beat them. So almost means nothing in this game. Almost means "We'll get em next year, (again)".
Again, when this season starts, I hope I'm wrong about Richt, but we've got the players, we've got the assistants, only one dynamic really hasn't changed. Is it going to be more of the same ole, same ole, and people say give him one more year, or will the majority finally get fed up like me and the few others over the years and demand change (albeit a few years late, IMO) or will Richt surprise me and win it all???? I love surprises, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

He's back. :woohoo:

Can't tell you how good this makes me feel. sadlerdawg not posting is like going to bed without ice cream.

Have turned that page in my life where there really is not enough time in the day to accomplish everything. Being retired, I can and do run off at the mouth when and if I want to.

As busy as you are sadlerdawg, take five on occasion and keep the board stimulated.

ogredawg mentioned in this thread that it is going to be more difficult now that it was a few years back to get the Crystal, totally agree with him, you and others. wlayton has said the same thing.

Also, looking around at other boards, seems many are upset with Mark Richt's choice of words. Not just here.

You and I both know that the talent level in Athens has been there for years, and as you say, some changes have been made.

Takes me to this . . . . Mike Bobo after the Spring game not down on the offensive line, upset with the quarterback. Will Friend was more than upset with the offensive line. Now we get these comments from Mark Richt about mediocrity. This is the type of "pill" than can destroy what many say should be an outstanding offense.

Another thing that I liked about the Spring game was the manner in which the defense played. All or many of the talking heads were saying the defense would be our downfall for at least a portion of the year. I do not believe that Todd Grantham and his coaching buddies on the D side lie down for anyone, including the guys wearing the Red and Black on the other side of the ball. He damn sure is not Willie.

Sincerely like the fact that there is a pulse sadlerdawg. :)

Buc wrote: ogredawg, that is just on the mark, true to the game without any BS. Often I step back and just read what folks like you have to say. We (all of us can be friendly) but when it comes down to the brass tacks, the truth comes out and those that are real don't sugar coat the game.

Don't know where AllDawgs5 is, but I do know that he understands. Same can be said for thriller, think maybe he is caught up in numbers. Was really glad to see Wartdawg back. 36869, who the hell knows. He knows and I have great respect for him and his knowledge. TN Dawg flashed this week, as did OSD. Duck does not say a lot, but he is real. wlayton, the mayor, has put a lot into this board, does not ask for too much.

sadlerdawg, miss him. averagedawg, don't have a better friend on this board than that man. Half of what I know comes from someone that posts seldom, stanger, he truly has a grip on the Dawgs. growl, much like you ogredawg, solid. DAWGtm, does not post a lot, but when he does, makes a good point.

This could go on forever, Goose, DawgnLA, Dapolla, WoodstockDawg, flyingdawg, LimeyDawg (serious poster) and who could leave out yankeedawg1 and fire_dawg. There are many others and I am not purposely leaving anyone out, old fingers get tired, and . . . . time to hit the sack. Looking forward to chatting with many of you, damn good group. :)

Last thing, would love to see kentdaddy back.

Does not cost a lot for all of you to think about our football team and give some opinions. Have never been closer to a board than this one, good souls here. This board belongs to all of you, sometimes just saying Hi means a lot. Steve is still building, it will happen here and all that have been mentioned above and those that were not, truly believe that all of us are appreciated.

Good night my friends, here is hoping that we wake up tomorrow and BUILD THAT DAMN OFFENSIVE LINE, at least TWO DEEP. :)

Uh, Buc.....you're the "rock" of our great forum!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Give me this, if you will.

When we opened up with Missouri in 2012, we were warned about Franklin (QB). The media, (which you and I dicussed earlier) warned us about the Tigers. Most of us know what happened.

The opening game on our schedule (2013) is not different than the game we played (away) in 2012. I have to believe that the defense will be ready. Do I believe that Georgia can be stopped, would surprise the hell out of me, if we are talking about the offense.

AM will come out 3, 4, or 5 years ahead of those that he will face on the defense. Homework finished. NFL is looking from game 1.

Many of our receivers will be chomping at the bits to do what "they do".

Have not heard Michael Bennett's name mentioned much, then again, not many folks have much to say until the pigskin is kicked when the season starts. This young man is going to light up not only our football team, the SEC that forgot MB will recall what they did not have to say after the injury. MB is back. :)

While I do think Boyd is MUCH better than Franklin (believe he will play at the next level for sure), I totally agree with your post Buc......no way they will stop us. I believe we out score them 45-35......D will be fine but not great early on imo.

wlayton, when I made that post last evening, promise you and others, came from the heart. Some of my "stuff" works, but the reason for that is the folks that come here and . . . . don't have to post FIRST. Little things sometimes get under my skin, that AJC thingy is one for sure.

Some days I read many boards, not only UGA boards, others in the SEC as well. Sometimes venture out to boards that think we are a mediocre team at best. There are several of those out there. Never hurts to check on the enemy.

While this board probably does not get as many "hits" as the AJC and a few others, this board is often referred to on other boards as being "football smart". I know that to be true.

By that I mean several things. Come to talk football on a mature level, plenty of that here. Looking for a war with words, can definitely find that on this site. While Steve will let it go to a certain point, he ain't a push over. That is not kissing butt, all of you that post here know he stays in the background, must remember this . . . . he does "lurk". ;)

There are several that post on this site that really get my attention. That is a long list. While I chatter a lot, I read every post that comes to this site, sometimes more than once.

Back to the football talk.

I believe that we are going to play Clemson, and we will be prepared. Taj had best keep his head on a swivel, no doubt in my mind that Grantham's group will introduce Taj to "speed".

If this group on campus now go through the summer as TampaDawg suggests and have some fun, play some, but put football first, season could be a beautiful thing.

This is a year that AM has to show his wares. Not a lot of quarterbacks around the country have his experience and . . . . not many have the weapons that AM has.

Keeping my eyes on Greg Pyke, and Kublanow when he reports for duty. Still have some of that military in my blood. :)

Will agree with you about Boyd keeping his head on a swivel. While I think he's the real deal, look no further than last year when they played FSU. FSU won 49-37 and you know the speed they had on D last year plus a tremendous pass rush.

Boyd did put 37 on them but lost....on the big stage.

Oh.....and FSU's offense isn't even close to ours.....may adjust our score higher. ;)
