Buc, certainly can't argue anything in your posts or ogredawg's.....actually not arguing anyway, I'm in total agreement about this OL stuff.

Well, there is a lot of talent both players and coaches in the SEC, after all, it is THE best conference in CF.

Hasn't CMR beaten SOS 2-3 times? Sumlin is very good but geez, we haven't even played him yet....CMR has beaten Muschamp both times they've played.....Franklin too. I certainly get your point but this IS the SEC, it is going to be tough and it should be tough. You win the SEC and you most likely will play and probably win a NC.

I'm not asking CMR to be Saban, just be good enough to win us one or two NC's....I believe it's doable.

Buc, a curiosity question because you've been associated with the media industry being in publishing etc.....I just never have "totally" trusted the media when I read things. They can embelish things, omit things, misinterpret things and add "their" spin on things etc.....you are a much better judge in that area. Do you feel those articles are dead on or....????

'Sup guys?

Yeah... I hate the phrase "skill position". There is a lot of skill in the line. Footwork is a skill, and a LT better have it. Ability to understand and know how to use leverage is a skill as well. What about calling protection at the line and understanding the schemes and responsibilities. These are not just big bodied dummies. They probably match up well if not exceed academic performance with any other group.

Haven't read the article, but the headline makes me roll my eyes quite a bit. I still wonder from time to time if he really understands the league in which he plays. We've had just as many skill players if not more than 'Bama over the years, but what has that gotten us?

The difference maker has usually been our lines of scrimmage.

Anyhoo.... not going to start up on CMR today. Just thought I would throw my thoughts on this "skilled" term. The grunts are just as skilled as anyone, and the phrase "grunt" is a
compliment. Has nothing to do with a lack of skill... just indicates they do the oft unheralded work that makes he bus run.

I'll be around more when season gets closer.

Go Dawgs.

Oh and Buc, Thanks for the link to Bernie's. I read the second part of his blawg and tend to agree that recruiting is not really an issue. Just the positions that are recruited is the issue. Last year was kind of a down year as far as 5*/top 10 go but they all don't pan out either. The top 10 recruits in the state we should get 3 to 5 every year and that has been the average according to Bernie. I am going to follow him a lot more now Buc and again Thanks........

wlayton, again, excellent post.

As with you and ogredawg, not aruguing, certainly don't take it that way. Good for the soul and the board to openly discuss areas of Georgia Football that all of us care for.

I have spent most of my life in the publishing business, however don't think that I am a better judge in the areas than you, ogredawg and others on this board.

In this day and time, not sure there is such a thing as journalism being carried out in an honorable manner. Pressures today are much different that many years back. The internet has turned many bloggers into thinking they are grads of the Journalism schools around the country. Couple of times I have mentioned names like Lewis Grizzard, Ed Thilenius, Jesse Outlar, Furman Bisher and others on this board. They understood the seriousness of their pens and typewriters when they released copy to their editors.

In my opinion, the AJC has two or three that should be ashamed of themselves and the Cox Corp. should be taken to task for allowing some of the BS that is spewed by those that represent the AJC.

We are not different, have been around long enough to pick up on things that are "spun", and sadly as you say, they (many, not all) sure as hell don't have my undivided attention.

Also, not suggesting that Mark Richt "clam up". Just want MR to push the clutch in prior to shifting gears . . . . if you get my drift. :)

ogredawg, Bernie is damn good. Don't always agree, but that sometimes is reason enough to follow his scribblings.

Another person that I think is really good and have great respect for her scribblings . . . . The Lady Sportswriter. Understands the media she is in and very good on football talk.

Wartdawg, where have you been? Don't answer that. :) Glad to see you up again. Football season is a ways off, don't hold out that long.
